THE ONLY POLL THAT MATTERS | Dave Campbell’s Texas Football state high school polls, all classifications / Presented by Kilgore-Gilmer Eye Care Centers

EDITOR’S NOTE: Here, presented by Kilgore-Gilmer Eye Care Centers, are the preseason state high school football polls from Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, which has been the recognized, traditional, most respected state polls for decades. ETBlitz.com will run these every week until the polls pause briefly during the playoffs, then again for the final round of polls following the state championship games.

The ETBlitz.com coverage area once again this year will be Kilgore, Henderson, and Pine Tree, all eligible for the University Interscholastic League’s Class 4A, Division I poll; Carthage and Gilmer, eligible for the 4A-DII poll; Tatum, Gladewater, Sabine, and White Oak, all eligible for the 3A-DI poll; Arp, Troup and West Rusk, who all compete in 3A-DII and are eligible in that poll; Beckville, in 2A-DI; Overton, in 2A-DII; and Leverett’s Chapel, the only six-man program in the ETB coverage area.

Several of the programs in our area are ranked in the preseason poll! Carthage, the defending state champion, is No. 1 in the 4A-DII poll. Troup is No. 2 in the 3A-DII poll. Kilgore is ranked fourth in 4A-DI, and Pine Tree is ranked 13th. Gilmer is ninth in 4A-DII, joining Carthage in the top 10.

Gladewater, going into just the second year for coach Jermaine Lewis, is ranked 24th in 3A-DI. Arp is 21st in 3A-DII. Beckville is 25th in 2A-DI, and Overton, 16th in 2A-DII. So just over half of the programs in the ETB coverage area begin the season ranked.
