District 15-4A girls soccer had an undefeated champion – the Henderson Lady Lions – and when that happens, there’s normally an overwhelming number of selections from that squad on the all-district team.

While the Lady Lions did have several, it’s not overwhelming, which speaks to the real talent of the district across the board.

Henderson was honored and should have been after running the table, 16-0, in district play. The Lady Lions brought home the overall most valuable player honor, senior Kirsten Gasaway, and a few more. Jazelin Garza won sophomore of the year; senior Ashlee Rodriguez was named utility player of the year; and Oscar Guevara was named coach of the year.

But the honors were spread around after that, a fairly even mix.

Voting was done by the coaches of the programs in the district.

Kilgore’s Aliyah Veloz and Spring Hill’s Abby Fisher, both juniors, were named co-defensive most valuable players. Carol Anguiano of Sabine, a senior, was named the keeper of the year.

Carthage senior Kensi Travis was named the offensive MVP and her teammate, senior Lexi Lopez, was named midfielder of the year. Spring Hill freshman Kaylee Londeau was named newcomer of the year. And Tatum won the team sportsmanship award.

Let’s move on to the actual team.
