SOFTBALL PLAYOFFS, ROUND TWO | Second-round information for teams still playing

White Oak’s Ladynecks have already surpassed the 30-win mark, but their ultimate goals are still out there and attainable. Coach Ninevah Blankenship’s team will meet Atlanta in round two of the UIL Class 3A , Division 1 softball playoffs in a best-of-three-game series that begins Wednesday. The high school softball playoffs began this week in Texas, and here’s what happened in the first round, as well as the schedule for round two (the area round) for the teams from the ETBlitz.com coverage area.

As the second round takes shape, in Class 4A, Carthage will meet North Lamar in a best-of-three series to be played at Pleasant Grove. In 3A, White Oak will face Atlanta in Marshall, and Arp will meet Hooks at two different sites. In 2A, Overton faces Como-Pickton at Fruitvale, and Beckville takes on McLeod at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.

CLASS 4A, DIVISION 2

Carthage (28-8) vs. North Lamar (13-11)

Series to be played at Pleasant Grove. Game one will be Thursday at 6 p.m. Game two will be Friday at 6 p.m., and if a third game is needed to decide the series, it’ll be Saturday back at PG, at 6 p.m. Easy enough.

CLASS 3A, DIVISION 1

White Oak (31-6) vs. Atlanta (24-9-1)

Series will be played at Marshall High School, and game one is Wednesday night at 6. Game two is Thursday at 6, and if a third game is needed, it’s not scheduled to be played until Monday, back at Marshall, again at 6.

CLASS 3A, DIVISION 1

Arp (26-8-2) vs. Hooks (23-6)

The Lady Tigers will face Hooks at Pine Tree High School in Longview. Games one and two will be Thursday night, starting at 6, and game three, if it’s necessary, will be Friday night at 8 at Whitehouse High.

CLASS 2A, DIVISION 2

Beckville (28-3-1) vs. McLeod (18-7-2)

This will be a best-of-three, with all games set to be played at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.

Games one and two will be a doubleheader on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

If game three is needed, it’ll be Saturday at 7 p.m., back at ETBU.

CLASS 2A, DIVISION 1

Overton (17-14) vs. Como-Pickton (29-5)

Another best-of-three-game series. This will be played at Fruitvale.

Game one will be Wednesday at 6 p.m., and Overton will be the visitors. Game two is Thursday at 5 p.m., and the Lady Mustangs will be the home team.

If game three is needed, it will be Saturday at 3 p.m. following game two, and there will be a coin toss to determine home/visiting teams.
