FITES TO HOST FREE CAMP | Tatum football brothers lend time to area youth

Arizona State defensive lineman C.J. Fite and University of Texas-San Antonio edge rusher Trey Fite are coming home. And they’re doing so to help area kids master the game they love.

The brothers Fite will host the first-ever Fite 2 The Top Football Camp on Saturday, May 16, back at Eagle Stadium that day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. They’ll welcome third through 12th grade students who want to learn the fundamentals of football and more skills — and there’s no cost.

Trey has a year of eligibility left, where he will get after quarterbacks at UTSA. Trey spent the bulk of his collegiate career at the University of Louisiana. Longtime Gilmer High head coach Jeff Traylor and the Fite family have known each other a long time, and Trey joins Traylor in San Antonio, where the Roadrunners figure to keep on winning.

The Roadrunners will open the season against Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Sept. 5, hit the road to San Marcos to meet Texas State on Sept. 12, and have this “little” game in Austin against the Texas Longhorns on Sept. 19.

Trey has graduated, and is in post graduate work.

C.J. already has his degree at ASU as well, but has announced he will indeed return for his final season of eligibility in Tempe.

It”ll be a crazy season for Arizona State, one that will include a trip to College Station to meet Texas A&M; a trip to London and Wimbley Stadium to face Kansas (oddly enough, for a Big 12 Conference game); a home game against Baylor in Tempe on Oct. 3; and a home opener against Morgan State on Sept. 5.

The Sun Devils are almost two seasons removed from their first-ever participation in the College Football Playoff (the 2024 season) and a Big 12 title.

Here is the registration form for the Fite Brothers’ camp, in which all campers receive a T-shirt.
