The Whataburger/ETBlitz.com Players of the Week award has been given for an athlete keeping his/her team undefeated; it’s been given for unbelievable performances; and it’s been given for a player keeping their team in the playoff hunt.

This week, the boys award goes to a player who did two of those three.

Sabine’s Hudson McNatt, who has had a few phenomenal performances this season, scored 49 points in two games last week, both wins, and the Cardinals are 5-0 thanks in part to the two incredible games by the junior.

For that, Hudson McNatt is the Whataburger/ETBlitz.com’s boys Player of the Week!

And in similar fashion, Kilgore soccer standout Lexi Lara had three goals in the Lady Bulldogs’ 7-0 rout of New Diana on Friday night. Lara is the Whataburger/ETBlitz.com girls Player of the Week!

First, a little business: ETBlitz.com is honored to have both Whataburger/DKT Investments and Energy Weldfab as our two lead advertising partners. The enthusiasm that both Jack Moore and Mike Clements share for local high school and Kilgore College sports – as well as their desire to help area athletes in any way possible to a great start in life – helps make Energy Weldfab and the World’s Greatest Hamburger Restaurant even better fits as partners for ETBlitz.com.

So far this year, there have been four weeks of Whataburger/ETBlitz.com Players of the week: Diego Rosas and Phenix Rivers (WHATABURGER / ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | First-ever winners are Kilgore’s Diego Rojas, Phenix Rivers!), both from Kilgore soccer; Kilgore College basketball players Nyla Inmon and Jamil Muttilib (WHATABURGER/ ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | KC stars step up in conference games), and last week’s winners, Braydon Nelson, of Kilgore boys basketball, and Sabine girls soccer player Bella Shaw (WHATABURGER/ ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | A Sabine soccer star shines, and a Kilgore Bulldog helps his team get back on track)

Back to McNatt. In two games – a 60-46 win over New Diana on Tuesday and a 85-44 win over Hughes Springs – McNatt had 49 points, in getting the Cardinals to an unblemished 5-0 record in District 15-3A.

McNatt had 26 points against Daingerfield and 23 against Hughes Springs.

The Cardinals, all of their basketball teams, are scheduled to host White Oak on Tuesday night.

Lara, meanwhile, was part of an absolute rout of New Diana in girls soccer on Friday, a 7-0 win that moved coach Todd BonDurant’s Lady Bulldogs to 4-0 already in District 15-4A soccer.

And as good as they were, Lara was the only girls player to score multiple goals in the contest.

At deadline for this story, both the Lady Bulldogs and the Bulldogs – who are also 4-0 in district play – were to play host to Tenaha on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Those games had been scheduled for Tenaha, but due to recent heavy rains, the sites were flipped. The girls varsity game will begin at 5, and the boys right after.

Congratulations to both Hudson and Lara for being this week’s Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Players of the Week!
