WHATABURGER / ETBLITZ AWARDS ARE BACK! | They resume next week, with prizes
The biggest weekly awards in East Texas is back for the 2024-25 school year.
And we could not be happier!
The Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Player of the Week Awards return for this school year – a male and a female athlete win every single week – and this year, instead of just taking the distinction of the actual win, they’ll be taking home some special Whataburger prizes, too.
Whataburger, Tyler-based DKT Investments LTD., became a part of the ETBlitz.com family in January and these awards were first presented shortly after.
So this will be our first fall to actually present – this will be the first time that football, volleyball, fall tennis and cross country athletes are eligible to win.
The ETBlitz coverage area, of course, which bears repeating, in alphabetical order is Arp, Gilmer, Gladewater, Henderson, Kilgore, Leverett’s Chapel, Overton, Sabine, Tatum, Troup, West Rusk, White Oak, and naturally, Kilgore College.
We’ll announce the awards each and every Tuesday – not just this fall, but throughout the school year, all the way through May, 2025 – here on ETBlitz.com, and on our social media (Facebook, Instagram, and even the new ETBlitz YouTube channel). That means when football, volleyball, fall tennis and cross country do wrap up, basketball, soccer, softball, golf, track & field – they’ll all be back and those athletes will be eligible to win.
What do they win? Well, we can’t tell you. It’ll be something very special – that will begin next weekend, after the first round of games, which start Thursday, August 29, through Saturday, August 31. We wanted to wait until football season had kicked off before we started the award.
So the first award-winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 3.
And the prizes will be hand-delivered to our winners each week!
