WHATA-YEAR! | Players of the Week were great… they’ll be back. And now? The PERSONALITY PROFILE.

Kilgore senior soccer standout Adan Reyes (above, left) helped the Bulldogs to a state tournament appearance and was a winner this year of our Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Player of the Week awards. So was Henderson’s Nolyn Norris (inset, below), who won for capturing a state powerlifting championship. We’re so proud of all of our winners. And now, until August, we’ll have the Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Personality Profile each Wednesday, something we believe you’ll really enjoy. We don’t have Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Players of the Week this week for two very good reasons:

  1. We ran out of players, and 2.) We ran out of weeks.

We are, however, going to be doing something every Wednesday that we think you’ll find pretty interesting as we head rapidly to the new school year, and a brand new journey.

More on that shortly.

Before we make that announcement, let’s mention all of our Whataburger / ETBlitz Players of the Week that began the first week of 2024, because there were some great performances. Heck, there were some great performances that were nominated that didn’t even win! We would’ve liked to have given the award to them, too!

Here are the winners, from week one through last week, with the links to the stories, so they can be read and shared again:

A few numbers:

  • We had 20 weeks of winners, 40 winners overall (20 boys winners, 20 girls winners).
  • Kilgore High School state discus champion and silver medalist in shot put Braydon Nelson won the award a ridiculous four times, including back-to-back wins.
  • We had a few student athletes who were winners more than once. Tatum baseball standout Carson Gonzalez won the final two awards of the school year. Kilgore baseball sophomore Colt Bullard and White Oak pitching phenom Larkin Daniels each won twice. And so did Sabine’s Hudson McNatt and Kilgore College’s Nyla Inmon.
  • So many different sports: boys and girls high school soccer; men’s and women’s junior college basketball; girls and boys high school basketball; high school baseball and softball; a couple of state champion powerlifters; and high school track and field, specifically hurdlers, shot put, discus, and sprinters. And we even had one award-winner take home our award because she won a state-wide award!

We’re so proud, both from Whataburger / DKT Investments and ETBlitz.com, to recognize these young men and women in not just the field of play, but in the classroom and as student athletes, and we’re proud to announce that will continue in the 2024 school year, as well.

So, without further adieu, this announcement:

Since there are no more worlds to conquer, so to speak, on the player of the week front between now and August, this is what we’ll have every week.

Each Wednesday, we will now have the Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Personality Profile.

You won’t know who it is until the announcement each week.

It’ll be someone who will have a direct impact on the fall sports scene, be it a coach, a student athlete, someone from the world of band, drill team, cheer – and they’ll be interviewed here on ETBlitz.com, beginning Wednesday, June 5, and that’s next week.

Until then, you’ve got some time. Go to the Whataburger menu right here: Whataburger | Order Online with Curbside and Delivery. Find you something, maybe their new Bacon Steakhouse Double. Order you a Dr. Pepper Shake or a Caramel Latte Shake to go with it, or a Coca-Cola Zero, like I do. Chill out for a week. Come back next Wednesday and see who the very first Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Personality Profile subject is.

I promise you … when our interview is done, you’ll be glad you checked it out.
