WAKE UP! ON ETBLITZ | Scrimmage schedule for this week; previews coming today, finishing Thursday

EDITOR’S NOTE: We’re here with WAKE UP! every day on ETBlitz.com, presented each day by Cozy Coffee Station in Kilgore (110 Midtown Plaza) and Gilmer (755 Highway 271 North). Go by either location all day (people don’t just drink coffee in the morning anymore), and if you’d like to look at their menu before you go, or check out their social media, here you go: their website is Home | Cozy Coffee Station, and you can see them both on Facebook (Cozy Coffee Station-Gilmer and Cozy Coffee Station-Kilgore), or on Instagram (@cozycoffeestation_kilgore and @cozycoffeestation_gilmer).

Scrimmage schedule this week

The regular season is almost here, but most every football program in the ETBlitz.com coverage area has one final scrimmage this week. Carthage is the exception; coach Scott Surratt’s Bulldogs are finished, with just the one scrimmage, and they’ll open the regular season against Kilgore at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium next Friday, Aug. 29.

For our other 15 teams, here are this week’s scrimmages, sites and times.

Troup: Coach Sam Wells and the Tigers will host Alto this Thursday at 6 p.m.

Gladewater: The Bears, along with first-year head coach Jermaine Lewis, will host North Lamar Thursday night, varsity at 7, at Jack V. Murphy Stadium.

Beckville: Coach Cody Ross’s Bearcats hit the road to Garrison on Thursday night.

Arp: The Tigers are at home for their final scrimmage, and it’s Thursday night at 6 against San Augustine.

Overton: Ore City is the destination for the Mustangs, Thursday night at 6.

Kilgore: The Ragin’ Red host Center Thursday for their last scrimmage, a 5:30 p.m. freshman and varsity start, and then varsity afterward.

Henderson, Tatum: These two ETBlitz coverage area schools meet each other Thursday night in Tatum, starting at 6.

Gilmer: The Buckeyes take a trip to Whitehouse Thursday for a 7 p.m. start of their second scrimmage.

Pine Tree: Coach Jason Bachman’s Pirates host former longtime district rival Marshall on Thursday night for a scrimmage, at 6:30 p.m.

Sabine: The Cardinals will be at home Thursday night for scrimmage No. 2, a 6:30 p.m. start against Edgewood.

West Rusk, White Oak: Two more programs in the ETB area scrimmage on Friday night, with West Rusk hosting White Oak’s Roughnecks at 6:30.

Leverett’s Chapel: The Lions, the only six-man program in our coverage area, have a Saturday scrimmage, Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Galveston O’Connell.

Previews (and links to them)

We got behind on our previews because we had to actually complete interviews with the coaches. Our apologies, and we still plan to have it in 15 days, so all five remaining programs — Kilgore, Tatum, Arp, Leverett’s Chapel and Gladewater — will be previewed here on the site between now and Thursday. Two of them are happening later today.
