NETFCA ALL-STARS ANNOUNCED | Seniors will play, cheer in games in Tyler this spring

The Northeast Texas Fellowship of Christian Athletes announced the participants in its annual all-star games for seniors in East Texas on Monday, at First Baptist Church in Tyler.

The athletes will play in baseball, softball and football games on May 31 and June 1 in Tyler, and there are also cheer all-stars – all seniors from across the region, several from the ETBlitz.com coverage area.

And both head coaches of the Northeast Texas FCA’s Heart of A Champion Bowl – the football all-star game – are from the ETBlitz.com area: Sabine’s Cody Gilbert and Overton’s Scotty Laymance.

Of course, the goal of the FCA is to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ, through the influence of coaches and athletes. And you can read more about the FCA, and the Northeast Texas chapter, here: NETX Northeast Texas FCA (netxfca.org).

The baseball and softball all-star games will be played Friday, May 31 at Tyler Legacy High School. Tickets are $5 each, and the games will both begin at 6:30 p.m.; gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

The 14th annual football all-star game will be the next day, Saturday, June 1, at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30, gates to open at 5:30. Admission is $10.

Parents can sign up for reminders about the all-star games by sending texts to 81010. There are codes for each sport. For baseball: @allstar-b. For softball, @allstar-sb. For cheer, @allstar-ch. For football, @allstar-fb.

Medical information and emergency contact forms are also available at the Northeast Texas FCA website link above, and businesses can also find out how to become a sponsor for any of the all-star games.

Softball

It’ll be the 10th annual softball all-star game, and this year’s coaches are Canton’s Russell Smith, for the Blue All-Stars, and Ronny Grandgeorge of Beckville for the Red All-Stars.

Van’s Clay Haltom will coach the Red All-Stars, and his assistants will be Frankston’s Wes King and Van’s Justin Stanfield.
