KILGORE SOCCER POSTSEASON HONORS | Bragg assistant coach of year; Martinez, Peralez in all-star game

Kilgore High School girls assistant soccer coach Jason Bragg was named TASCO’s assistant coach of the year in girls 4A Region 2, and developed the crest seen in the bottom right-hand corner of that photo. Below: KHS boys coach Hector Peralez (far left), himself a former Bulldog, looks on during Kilgore’s game against Boerne in the UIL Class 4A State Tournament in Georgetown on April 10. Peralez guided Kilgore back to the state tournament this year after a seven-year absence. And goalkeeper Chris Martinez (inset) is all smiles after the clock expires in a Kilgore playoff win over Jacksonville in Henderson this past season. Peralez was named a coach for the TASCO boys senior all-star game in San Antonio last week, and Martinez played in the game. Kilgore High School soccer – boys and girls – are two of the most dominant programs in East Texas.

The Bulldogs are coming off yet another University Interscholastic League Class 4A state tournament appearance at Georgetown’s Birkelbach Stadium after capturing district and regional championships – in coach Hector Peralez’s first season, no less – and the Lady Bulldogs finished second to Henderson in district, but their only district losses were to the Lady Lions, and had another great season, and are just a season removed from an appearance at the regional tournament, where they are regulars.

These facts have not been lost on the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO).

Kilgore was honored in the last two weeks as Peralez was selected as a coach in the TASCO senior all-star game in San Antonio; goalkeeper Chris Martinez was selected to play in the contest; and now, Kilgore girls assistant coach Jason Bragg has been named the TASCO Assistant Coach of the Year for Girls 4A Region 2.

ETBlitz.com placed these announcements on our social media accounts, but we’ve had a busier week than normal, and we wanted to come back and recognize them here on the website for all to see. Congratulations to coaches Peralez and Bragg, and to Chris Martinez for these outstanding achievements!
