Regional track meets are this weekend, and that’s just one step away from the University Interscholastic League State Track & Field Championship the weekend of May 2-4, at the University of Texas in Austin.

Athletes from almost every single one of the high schools in the ETBlitz.com coverage area are competing this weekend at regional meets at Whitehouse, Bullard and Palestine in an effort to get to the big stage.

There is a monkey wrench thrown in the plans: Saturday, the weather here in East Texas is supposed to be – well, dreadful, according to KLTV Chief Meteorologist Katie Vossler (Home (kltv.com).

That’s already forced one of the meets – the meet in Palestine – to alter its plans, and condense the entire meet into one day. That’s the UIL Class 2A Region III meet, involving athletes from Overton High School.

You can see the meet’s schedule on the Energy Weldfab / ETBlitz.com Scoreboard (ENERGY WELDFAB / ETBLITZ.com Scoreboard), and here are the Overton athletes headed to regionals, and the events in which they’ll compete:

  • Christian Hall in the boys high jump.
  • Bryce Still in the boys 800 meter run.

Athletes from Kilgore and Henderson will be at Bullard ISD’s Panther Stadium at the UIL Class 4A Region III Championships. Again, now, the schedule could change due to the weather, especially on Saturday, but here are the athletes headed to regionals from Henderson and from Kilgore:
