WILLIAMS, NORRIS WIN STATE TITLES | Large collection of East Texans at state powerlifting meet

Someone within the Overton ISD school district, maybe the athletic department, worked hard on this graphic after Kadden Williams won the Texas High School Powerlifting Association’s super-heavyweight class on Saturday. Williams and Henderson’s Nolyn Norris both brought home state titles in their respective classes, and several ETBlitz.com-area student athletes were in Abilene to compete for them, all did fairly well. UPDATE: ETBlitz.com has been told that KRISTI ZALMAN is the person who is a whiz with the graphics on the Overton Mustang Athletics Facebook page. Great job, Krisit, doing Kadden’s achievement justice!

East Texas was once again represented – this time in a big way – at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association’s State Meet in Abilene this week.

Overton’s Kadden Williams puts his name in the books as the 2024 THSPA’s state champion in the super-heavyweight class. Williams – who is used to throwing people around on the football field – can throw the weights around a little bit, too.

Williams had a squat of 700 pounds, a bench press of 470 pounds and a deadlift of 540 pounds for 1,710 pounds, total.

Yorktown’s Hunter Hall came in second to Williams – Hall finished with 1,665 pounds.

Also winning a state title locally was Henderson’s Nolyn Norris, who won state gold in the 148-pound weight class. Nolyn had a squat of 420, a bench of 215, and a deadlift of 345, for a 980-pound total.
