WHATABURGER / ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | It’s McNatt (AGAIN!) and Kilgore’s Cedillo

For the second time since the award was established earlier this year, there’s a repeat winner.
And once again, he’s deserving. In fact, they both are.
Sabine boys basketball standout Hudson McNatt is the Whataburger / ETBlitz.com boys Player of the Week for his performances last week in two of the Cardinals’ wins, first in the Cardinals’ 68-46 win at home over New Diana, then in their 68-51 win at Daingerfield – a win that clinched the District 16-3A championship.
McNatt dropped 27 points on the New Diana Eagles, then 23 on Daingerfield – 50 combined points to help the Cardinals get their 21st and 22nd wins of the season, and claim the district title.
McNatt also soared over the 1,000-point career mark at Sabine High with the win.
For his performances in those games, McNatt – for the second time this basketball season (the first was Jan. 22-27) – is the Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Boys Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 5-Feb. 10.
Of course, he has company.
But this young lady didn’t win an award for numbers – she won for her leadership.
After Kilgore High School’s girls soccer team dropped its first District 15-4A game of the year – a 2-1 loss on the road at Henderson – the Lady Bulldogs had to pick themselves up. And their point guard on the field, and perhaps their heart on and off it, is senior midfielder Gloria Cedillo.
Cedillo, for her leadership and helping Kilgore to back-to-back district wins over Spring Hill (7-1, last Monday, Feb. 5) and Carthage (3-2, on Friday), is the Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Girls Player of the Week.
Cedillo had an assist in helping lift the Lady Bulldogs to those two wins, and to their 7-1 district record.
This season, there have been six weeks of Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Players of the Week awards, beginning with Kilgore soccer standouts Diego Rojas and Phenix Rivers (WHATABURGER / ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | First-ever winners are Kilgore’s Diego Rojas, Phenix Rivers!). Then, it was Kilgore College standouts Nyla Inmon and Jamil Muttilib (WHATABURGER/ ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | KC stars step up in conference games), followed by Sabine soccer’s Bella Shaw and Kilgore basketball’s Braydon Nelson (WHATABURGER/ ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | A Sabine soccer star shines, and a Kilgore Bulldog helps his team get back on track).
McNatt claimed his first player of the week award two weeks ago, winning alongside Kilgore soccer’s Lexi Lara (WHATABURGER/ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | Sabine’s McNatt, Kilgore’s Lexi Lara), and then last week, KC’s Muttilib was back again after scoring 67 points (!) in two games, along with Henderson basketball’s Kyeisha Clater (WHATABURGER / ETBLITZ.COM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK | KC’s Muttilib, Henderson’s Clater).
There might be some debate on whose performance was good enough to be a player of the week, but there’s NEVER a debate on where to go for breakfast, lunch, dinner or after the game – it’s always Whataburger.
