Overshown, Wilson
So yesterday, we told you about Arp’s DeMarvion Overshown returning to the lineup for the Dallas Cowboys (WAKE UP! Arp’s Overshown is back, and West Rusk’s Wilson is waiting: both on ‘Monday Night Football’ tonight — Cowboys vs. Raiders). Overshown, a linebacker, has missed nine games this season after tearing, well, a good portion of the ligaments in his right knee last December. His first game was last night on “Monday Night Football,” sort of fittingly at the Las Vegas Raiders, where another East Texan – former West Rusk Raider (and current Raider) Tyree Wilson suits up at defensive end.
Overshown finished with a tackle and a tackle for loss in his season debut, as the Cowboys won the game, 33-16, and are now 4-5-1 on the season. They’ll be back at home Sunday in a big NFC East division game, hosting the Philadelphia Eagles at 3:25 p.m. on FOX.
Wilson had three total tackles, two for loss and defended a pass. The Raiders are kind of a miserable 2-8 this season, and host Cleveland on Sunday, the late-afternoon 3:05 p.m. start, as well.
Whataburger Super Team
A year ago, Kilgore defensive back / wide receiver Jayden Sanders was part of the Whataburger Super Team, a Dave Campbell’s Texas Football-backed feature designed to spotlight the state’s very best, the elite football players selected through a very different process: by YOU, the fans.
That has returned, and so has that process.
If you’d like to be a part of it again, here’s all you have to do.
Go to this link – WHATABURGER SUPER TEAM NOMINATIONS! | Five locals on the ballot for the DCTF / Whataburger Super Team — VOTE NOW!– that’s our story, and there’s another link in there. You can vote for the ETBlitz players who are mentioned, who are White Oak quarterback Jaxsen Ludlow, Henderson running back Jesstin “Meaty” Starling and Carthage running back K.J. Edwards, and Carthage linebackers Carson Crawford and Da’Quives Beck, and there’s also the opportunity to try and get other players nominated.
Second-round playoff games
Here’s this list again, in case you missed it, of high school playoff games in the second round this weekend involving ETBlitz-area teams, and just East Texas high school football programs in general. Later today or tomorrow, we’ll do a little more thorough list with complete ticket prices and links, and any other information we can find.
