EDITOR’S NOTE: It’s Thursday here on ETBlitz, waking up here with us, presented by Cozy Coffee Station and its two East Texas locations: one at 755 Highway 271 North in Gilmer, the other at 110 Midtown Plaza in Kilgore. Order ahead, pick up your drinks and stay for a while at either location; their website, Home | Cozy Coffee Station, has your menu, and they’re ready to make your order. What a night!

District rivals playing in the fourth round, tensions high, not one inside-the-park home run, but two – the second one a grand slam, and so much more.

Whether you’re a high school baseball fan or not, if you haven’t already read it, we encourage you to check out our story on Overton sweeping Beckville on Wednesday night at Longview, as the Mustangs advanced to the UIL 2A-Division II state semifinals.

It was something else.

Going camping

As soon as Overton (29-7) has an opponent and a series set for the semifinals next week, we’ll bring that information to you guys here on ETBlitz.com, and on our various social media.

Another plug for Camp Central, our updated list of youth sports camps coming up this summer, some of them starting really soon.

Here’s the link: CAMP CENTRAL | Youth sports camps coming up across the ETBlitz area (updated May 21), and hopefully we’ve gotten it cleaned up, all the bugs out, and all the links will work.

Rangers fall again

The Texas Rangers are finding the going tough right now, as the Rangers lost, 4-3, to the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium again on Wednesday night.

This time, it was a tiebreaking solo home run, a walk-off homer, in the bottom of the ninth by Jason Dominguez that gave the Yankees their third straight win, the last two over the Rangers.

This, in spite of two solo home runs by Jake Burger and one solo shot by Sam Haggerty, which accounted for all of the Rangers’ scoring (three runs).

New York’s D.J. LeMahieu had an RBI grounder in the second inning. Cody Bellinger had a home run off of Texas’s Jacob deGrom, and then Aaron Judge tied the game at 3 with an RBI single in the eighth inning.

deGrom only allowed three hits, a walk and struck out nine.

The Rangers and Yankees are slated for a 11:35 a.m. start on Thursday, and rain is in the forecast – there could be a change of plans, if that’s the case.

Texas drops to .500 – 25-25 – overall this season, and now four games behind Seattle in the American League West, still with one game to go in New York against the Yankees before hitting the road to face the Chicago White Sox on Friday.

The Yankees are 29-19 and lead the AL East by five games over the Toronto Blue Jays.

You guys are missing out: enter the gift card contest!

ETBlitz.com announced last weekend the first of several promotions over the next couple of months involving our ad partners.

We’re giving away three $20 gift cards: one on Facebook, one on Instagram, and one here on the site.

We’ve had a huge response on Facebook, but not as much on the site or Insta, and the drawing for all three is this Sunday – I’d hate to have to go spend these cards myself, but I sure will.

So in case you want to, here’s how to enter.

There’s an existing post on the ETBlitz.com Facebook page about the giveaway. You’ll need to scroll down to find it. Everyone who shares, comments, likes or loves the comment will be entered into a drawing. A name drawn at random on Sunday will win the card, and the winning name will be announced in Wake Up! on ETBlitz the next day, on Monday, and on Facebook.

There’s also a post on Instagram. To enter the Instagram drawing, follow @ETBlitzofficial and share the post. Everyone who does so will be entered in that drawing.

On ETBlitz.com, simply go to the website, and comment on any story (comment boxes are at the bottom of every story). Everyone who does so will be entered into a drawing.

As we said before, If you win one, you’re ineligible to win either of the other two.

Cozy Coffee Station is located in both Gilmer and Kilgore – in Gilmer at 755 Highway 271 North, and in Kilgore at 110 Midtown Plaza. Take a look at their website, Home | Cozy Coffee Station; on Facebook at Cozy Coffee Station – Kilgore, or at Cozy Coffee Station – Gilmer; and on Instagram (@cozycoffeestation_Kilgore or @cozycoffeestation_Gilmer.
