EDITOR’S NOTE: Here are high school football standings for districts that include programs from the ETBlitz.com coverage area, and then playoff scenarios for those districts, as well as the schedule for this weekend, the final weekend of the 2025 regular season. The University Interscholastic League playoffs will begin next week. Following the standings for districts in the ETB coverage area, it’s those in the East Texas region. This is all a part of Wake Up!, presented by Cozy Coffee Station, located here in East Texas in Kilgore (at 110 Midtown Plaza) and in Gilmer (at 755 Highway 271 North). There’s so much to choose from there, you might be overwhelmed, so check out their menu before you go at their website here: Home | Cozy Coffee Station. And congratulations to CCS Kilgore on their anniversary and their celebration this past weekend! Let’s get to those standings and playoff scenarios.

Playoffs: Kilgore has clinched top seed. Lindale will be second seed, by virtue of wins over Pine Tree and Chapel Hill (tiebreaking wins over other two playoff teams, but loss to Kilgore). Pine Tree will be third (owns tiebreaker over Chapel Hill). Chapel Hill will be fourth (regular season complete; lost to Kilgore, Lindale and Pine Tree, but defeated Henderson, Mabank and Palestine).

Rusk1-3-01-8-0Lost at Carthage, 56-3Center114322

Playoffs: This one is clear for the top three spots. Carthage is first, Athens is second, and Center is third, all set with no matter what happens Friday because of head-to-head tiebreakers (Carthage defeated both Athens and Center, and Athens beat Center). What’s in play is the fourth playoff spot, where Bullard, Brownsboro and Rusk are all tied with awful 1-3 records. In the regular season, Brownsboro beat Bullard, Bullard defeated Rusk, and Rusk beat Brownsboro, and of course, none of them are playing each other this week.

So who gets the fourth and final playoff spot in 8-4A, Division II?

Well, there will be a tie-breaker that involves points. And we’ll know Saturday morning.

North Lamar0-4-00-8-0Lost to Van, 58-7At Gilmer107439

Playoffs: Technically, if Van beats Pleasant Grove this Friday, the two would both be 4-1 in district and share the district championship. The winner of the Van-PG game goes into the postseason as the district’s top seed. The loser goes in as the second seed. If Pittsburg can beat Spring Hill this week, the Pirates will be in. But as long as Gilmer beats North Lamar (as expected), Pittsburg will be the No. 4 seed (because Gilmer beat Pittsburg in October and would own the tiebreaker between the two). As long as Gilmer wins its game against North Lamar, the Buckeyes will be the No. 3 seed, and Spring Hill and North Lamar will be the two teams left out.

Playoffs: Gladewater beat Atlanta last week and in Jermaine Lewis’ first season as head coach, the Bears have won the district championship, regardless if they beat White Oak or not. They’ll go into the 3A-Division I playoffs as the No. 1 overall seed from this district. Atlanta will be the second overall seed, as the Rabbits are off this final week of the regular season. Liberty-Eylau will be third, and Tatum hosts Jefferson — the winner of that one will be the fourth and final playoff team from 8-3A, Division I.

Playoffs: Troup has already clinched the district championship and it won’t matter even with a loss at Buffalo in the final weekend of the regular season, if that were to happen. Arp and West Rusk are playing to determine who will be second place (the winner) and who’ll be third. As long as New Diana beats Elkhart, the Eagles will get the final playoff spot (because they defeated Buffalo; they own the head-to-head tiebreaker between the two). If New Diana loses and Buffalo wins, it would seem Buffalo would get that fourth and final playoff spot.

Playoffs: This one is a little harder — there’s a three-way tie for first place and none of them are playing others this weekend. So if all three win, Elysian Fields is ahead on points, and would claim first place as far as the district playoff seeding. As long as Union Grove beats winless Big Sandy, UG would take fourth, the final playoff spot.

Playoffs: Easiest scenario yet. In UIL six-man, only the top two teams in each district make the playoffs. Saint Jo and Union Hill are those teams. They’re the only two that will make the playoffs in this district. They play each other, simplifying things even more. The winner will go in as district champion; the loser will go in as the runner-up, as the second seed from the district.
