TROUP HOSTS SHUTTLESWORTH RELAYS | Troup, Arp will meet again next weekend in Arp

Troup hosted its Shuttlesworth Relays on Thursday, and welcomed rival Arp to the party.

And Arp will return the favor next Friday when Troup comes over to its meet, a 3:30 p.m. start at Arp High.

Other programs in the Troup meet Thursday were Elkhart, Edgewood, and Alto.

Varsity boys results

  • Caden Claburn won the 100 meter dash in 10.91 seconds; Arp’s Zeshaun Reed was second (11.40) and Troup’s Noble Kendrick (11.53 seconds) was third. Wyatt Johnson of Arp was fifth (12.06).
  • Reed was second for Arp in the 200 meter dash (22.89 seconds), Kendrick fourth for Troup (24.28).
  • The Troup duo of Jaylon Williams (56.31 seconds) and Cason Mills (56.75) were second-third in the 400 meter dash; Arp’s Caysen Wilson (57.10) was fourth (57.10).
  • Wilson was second in the 800 meter run (2 minutes, 13 seconds).
  • Arp’s Ty Bardsley was third in the 1,600 meter, or mile, run (5 minutes, 10.34 seconds), and third in the 3,200 meter, or two-mile, run (11:54). Troup’s Christian Howell was fourth in the two-mile (12:11).
  • Troup’s Keshaun Kendrick (16.75 seconds), Billy Borja (16.91 seconds) and Conner Boyd (17.12) were third-fourth-fifth, respectively, in the 110 meter hurdles, and Arp’s Zane Borque was sixth (17.24).
  • Boyd was second, Borja third in the 300 meter hurdles (Boyd in 43.16 seconds and Borja, 44.38).
  • Troup’s 400 meter relay team won that event (42.25 seconds), with Arp third (43.43). Troup also won the 800 meter relay (1:28.41), and Arp again was third (1:33.70), and then the roles reversed for the mile relay, with Arp taking that one (3 minutes, 36 seconds) and Troup second (3:36.45).
  • In field events, Demarcus Wade of Arp won the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches).
  • Troup’s Trae Davis, a Kansas State signee in football, won the long jump (22 feet, 10 inches), with teammate Bryce Wallum coming in second (20 feet, 7 inches).
  • Davis also won the triple jump (41 feet, 8 inches), and teammate Jaylon Williams was second (40 feet, 9 inches) and Arp’s Wade, third (40 feet, 7 inches).
  • Riley Blackmon won the pole vault for Troup (13 feet).
  • Arp’s Zyon Washington won the discus throw (126 feet, 10 inches), with Christopher Calley of Troup finishing second (115 feet, 8 inches) and Troup’s Cason Nichols, fourth (110 feet, 8 inches).
  • Skyler Sides won the shot put (37 feet, even) and Arp’s Washington was second (36 feet, 8 inches).

Varsity girls

  • Troup’s Jenna Murry was second in the 800 meter run (2 minutes, 59 seconds), and teammate Alexa Splawn was fourth (3:01).
  • Murry was also second in the mile run (7 minutes flat). Arp’s Megan Spears was fourth (7:11.87) and Madeline Howell of Troup was fifth (7:20.45).
  • Spears was third in the two-mile run (15:33) and Howell of Troup was fourth (15:50).
  • Cassie Murry of Troup was third in the 300 meter hurdles (55.59 seconds) and teammate Bailey Gibson was fifth (59.87 seconds).
  • Troup’s girls won the 400 meter relay (52.28 seconds), with Arp second (52.66), and Troup also won the 800 meter relay (1:51.63), again with Arp in second (1:52.13). Arp’s girls won the mile relay (4:26.63), with Troup third (4:47.31).
  • Emory Cover of Troup won the triple jump (33 feet, 4 inches).
  • Cover was first in the high jump (4 feet, 8 inches) and third in the long jump (14 feet, 7 inches). Teammate Qhenja Jordan was fourth in the long jump (14 feet, 3 inches).
  • Troup’s Bailey Gibson was second in pole vault (9 feet), with Arp’s Adah Terry third (7 feet, 6 inches).
  • Hannah Cearley of Troup won the discus throw (97 feet, 7 inches). Arp’s Landry Langley was second (92 feet, 2 inches) and Troup’s Adalyne Burks, third (88 feet, 6 inches).
  • And in the shot put, Kinsley Covington of Troup had the best throw (30 feet, 9 inches), with Arp’s Kaitlynn Raymond third (30 feet, even).

Junior varsity boys

  • Arp’s Casen Burgins won the 100 meter dash (12.18 seconds), Troup’s Landon Powell right behind in third (12.27).
  • Troup’s Landon Powell won the 200 meter dash (25.13 seconds); Arp’s Jamarion Hodge was fourth (25.60).
  • Arp’s Chadster Ellis won the 400 meter run (58.84 seconds). Troup’s Logan Chambers was second (59 seconds) and Arp’s Layton Shelbourne, third (59.10).
  • Troup’s Thor Keating was fourth in the 800 meter run (2:39.93), and Arp’s David Montoya was fifth (2:44.49).
  • In the mile run, Troup’s Seth Rose was second (6:07.80), but he won the two-mile run (14 minutes, 12 seconds), with Arp’s Montoya second (14:19) and Arp’s Sawyer Richard third (14:30). Jamarion Lydia was fourth for Troup (14:33) and Patrick McMullen, also from Troup, in fifth (14:39).
  • Arp’s Brenden Dark won the 110 meter hurdles (18.44 seconds) and teammate Cale Bedard was fourth (20.82).
  • Dark was second (47.60 seconds), Bedard fourth (51.85)  in the 300 meter hurdles.
  • Arp won the 800 meter relay (46.46 seconds).
  • Burgins was second for Arp in the long jump (17 feet, 5 inches). Teammate Cornelius Pierce was fourth (16 feet,  inches).
  • Troup’s Shane Jasper was fourth in the triple jump (34 feet, 1 inch).
  • Hurst Wyatt won the pole vault for Troup (9 feet).
  • A.J. Dewberry got the win for Troup in the discus throw (109 feet, 6 inches), and Arp’s Garrett Grandgeorge was second (99 feet, 5 inches).
  • Dewberry also won the shot put (37 feet, even), and teammate Caden Starkey was fourth (32 feet, 8 inches).
