THEY’RE ON THE ROAD! | Texas teams, defending champ LSU and more all aiming for spots in College World Series
Several teams from Texas, and teams of local interest to fans in the ETBlitz.com coverage area, will be in pursuit of a college baseball national championship when regionals begin today, the beginning of the road to the College World Series.
LSU is the defending national champion, and is in the hunt, as are Texas, Texas A&M and Dallas Baptist, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas and even Grambling.
Texas A&M is hosting a regional this Friday today in College Station, and they’ll “welcome” archrival Texas, Grambling, and Louisiana (Lafayette). The Aggies, the No 3 national seed, will face Grambling at noon on ESPN+, the ESPN online streaming service. The second game of the day at the College Station regional is at 5 p.m., and that’s the Longhorns facing Louisiana on ESPNU.
Of course, all of the regionals are double elimination, and the winner of each of the regionals advance to the super regionals next week (the super regionals begin Friday, June 7).
The destination everyone would like to reach – the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska – that’s Friday, June 14, through Sunday, June 26 or Monday, June 27, depending upon wins and losses there in the double-elimination situation, and, of course, something we know a lot about here in East Texas lately: how much weather affects the tournament.
Dallas Baptist is in the Tucson regional, hosted by the University of Arizona. DBU is in the first game in that regional today at 2 p.m. Central time on ESPN2 against West Virginia, and then game two of that regional is at 8 p.m. on ESPN+, Arizona against Grand Canyon.
