The Kilgore Bulldogs left no doubt in Corsicana who should move on to the regional finals.

Navasota looked bowled over from the start last Friday afternoon – from the moment Rayshaun Williams crossed the goal line and gave Kilgore its first touchdown of the day to the final score, a 2-yard quarterback run by Sean Moyers, the Rattlers were, well, rattled.

Kilgore finished with about as complete of a game as a football team could play, a dominating 62-7 win over Navasota in the UIL Class 4A, Division I regional semifinals.

And for that, once again the Kilgore High School Bulldogs are the Goudarzi & Young, LLP / ETBlit.com Team of the Week, this time for the week of Nov. 25-30.

Receiver Jayden Sanders just owned these folks: five catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns, and it felt like twice that. Navasota looked like kindergartners trying to slow down a grown man.

And Sanders was just one of a host of Bulldogs that gave the Rattlers trouble. Quarterback Kayson Brooks missed on just four passes. He finished 20-of-24 for 287 yards and four touchdowns to six different receivers: Sanders, Jacory Walton (four for 51), Javon Towns (three for 23), Isaiah Watters (two for 29 and a touchdown), LaKeyleon Graves (one for 17), and Williams (five for 39 and the score).

Cade Cox also had a catch, a 22-yarder (to match his number) from Moyers in the second half.

On the ground, Williams finished with 108 yards and a rushing touchdown on 13 carries. Watters ran just six times, but for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Moyers had the score, as mentioned. Brooks had two carries for 18 yards, and David McGowan and K’Winn Reese added to it: McGowan, 37 yards on seven carries, and Reese had 12 yards on three carries.

Defensively, Ja’Kalen Sheffield finished with two interceptions – one for a 60-yard touchdown – and five tackles. La’Perrion Graves was his usual self: 13 tackles to lead the Ragin’ Red. Cameron Christian had nine tackles, one for loss and a quarterback hurry.

Jamarian Duncan Morgan had a sack. Wylie Mitchell had two QB hurries. LaKeyleon Graves had eight tackles, and McGowan had six. Travis Holmes and Jackson Tucker Phillips each had six tackles, and Mitchell and Travis Dixon each had five.

In the end, when all was said and done, Kilgore held Navasota to 137 yards on nine ay City next

The Bulldogs are now 11-2, and have won seven straight games. They will play Chapel Hill (10-3) this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at City Bank Stadium in Forney, and yes, Chapel Hill has slipped past Kilgore the last three years in the playoffs.

Can Kilgore get it done, continue the playoff run and face either La Vernia or Bay City next week, and stay on the path for a second state championship?

Stay tuned.
