THE BET IS OVER, AND… | Mitch will be dancing
The bet has been decided. Ashtyn Lucas (left) had more Elite Eight picks correct on her NCAA men’s basketball tournament bracket than her dad, ETBlitz.com editor/publisher Mitch Lucas. And now, he has to do a dance that Ashtyn choreographs, and be filmed doing it, to be posted on social media on Monday, April 8. (ETBLITZ.COM photo)

The daddy-daughter bet has been decided – and will be paid off soon.
Back in March, right before the NCAA Men’s Tournament – typically known as “March Madness” by many, because of the craziness surrounding the tournament, with upsets over large schools and millions across the nation trying to guess the outcomes by filling out brackets – ETBlitz.com editor / publisher Mitch Lucas and his daughter Ashtyn made a little bet.
The wager: if Mitch got more of the Elite Eight teams on his bracket correct than Ashtyn did on hers, then Ashtyn would have to race former Kilgore High School baseball player Jason Silvey to first base at Driller Park. And Silvey readily agreed to be a part of the bet.
But if Ashtyn had more teams correct in her Elite Eight, on her bracket, then Mitch would have to learn a 30-second dance, choreographed by Ashtyn, to be put on social media.
For Mitch, the worst has happened: he lost.
Due to several upsets, like Houston, Auburn, North Carolina, and Kentucky, both of their brackets had issues. But Mitch’s final eight were Auburn, Iowa State, North Carolina, Arizona, Houston, Kentucky, Purdue and Tennessee.
Ashtyn’s eight were Auburn, Iowa State, Alabama, Baylor, Duke, Kentucky, Gonzaga and Tennessee.
Alabama, Purdue and Tennessee made the Elite Eight. So Ashtyn’s bracket had more Elite Eight picks than her dad’s.
And now he’ll have to pay up.
In upcoming days, he’ll have to learn the dance, which will be posted to the ETBlitz.com website on April 8, the day the men’s national championship is played (fittingly).
Mitch insists he’ll live up to the wager and complete it, and that we’re all in for some quality dancing.
Forgive us if we’re skeptical.
But the wager will be honored – at his expense – on Monday, April 8.
Maybe he can get Silvey to give him a few pointers.
