TATUM-PARADISE FRIDAY IN KAUFMAN | And Eagles open playoffs vs. Mineola on Tuesday
Girls high school basketball season is over for all of the ETBlitz.com-area teams.
Except the Tatum High School Lady Eagles.
They’re still playing. And that’s an understatement.
Tatum blew by Edgewood – they were out there for a half before they knew there was anybody out there with ‘em, a 61-14 final last Monday in Winona.
Then they knocked off No. 9 Hooks, 55-45, on Thursday in Pittsburg. Hooks came in as the Lady Hornets. They left as the Lady Hot Links: roasted.
And now it’s Paradise that Tatum has their sights on.
Tatum (24-6) meets Paradise (24-10) on Friday as a part of the University Interscholastic League’s Class 3A, Division II Regional Semifinals, the regional tournament, at Kaufman High School. It’s a 6 p.m. tip-off on Friday in Kaufman, and Tatum is the visitor.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students, and it’s online-only ticket sales. We’ve been trying to get our hands on a link all day Saturday – as soon as we get one, we’ll post it here.
Paradise defeated Mount Vernon on Friday, 45-36.
As mentioned, to recap, it was Tatum over Hooks the night before, 55-45.
Shawn Christopher had that one for ETBlitz.
Kamryn Scott had 18 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and three blocks. Teammate Aundrea Bradley had 13 points, 10 steals, nine assists and four rebounds. Kaleigh Hooker had 12 points, and had eight assists, four steals and four rebounds. Alecia Halton scored seven, and had five assists, four rebounds and two steals. And Mariyah Bradley had five points and six rebounds.
Now, as far as the boys…
Tatum 79, Mexia 74: Coach Brett Carr’s Eagles were actually tested, believe it or not, and put that unbeaten-at-home record on the line Friday night against what turned out to be a very tough Mexia team.
Tatum, which ran through the District 16-3A schedule unscathed, has now won 12 straight games overall, is 26-2 on the season, and gets Mineola (9-16) on Tuesday night in the first, or bi-district, round of the University Interscholastic League’s Class 3A, Division II playoffs.
Or maybe we should say Mineola gets Tatum. Get braced, Mineola.
That’ll be at Longview High School’s Lobo Coliseum, a 7 p.m. tip-off Tuesday. Tatum is technically the visitors in the game.
Against Mexia, Jordan Chambers finished with 29 points. JaCorie Bradley had 23. Luke Sigler had 12. Cayden Tatum scored eight. Nalayus Boyd had three points and Cooper Whiteus added two.
