SANDERS HONORED FRIDAY! | Kilgore’s Jayden Sanders to be honored at Whataburger Friday at 5 p.m.!

Jayden Sanders scored a touchdown on the road at Chapel Hill, then motioned for the Chapel Hill crowd to, um, be quiet, as the Kilgore Bulldogs cruised to a win. Sanders and his Kilgore teammates reached the UIL 4A-Division I state title game, and along the way, he made enough plays to be recognized as a member of the 2024 Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Whataburger Super Team. ETBlitz.com announced in January that Kilgore High School defensive back and wide receiver Jayden Sanders had been selected to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s 2024 Whataburger Super Team.

Rarely – VERY rarely – do we make an announcement that doesn’t have some special circumstances surrounding it.

Those circumstances are Friday.

Sanders, a senior at Kilgore High School, will be honored with a special ceremony this Friday at 5 p.m. at Whataburger in Kilgore, a presentation in honor of his selection to the Whataburger Super Team. And friends, family, teammates, coaches, and the public are all invited!

Sanders, the overall most valuable player for District 9-4A in football (and for District 16-4A in basketball!, but that’s a different story), announced in August at Kilgore’s indoor practice facility his verbal commitment to the University of Michigan and its football program.

Sanders followed that announcement by joining his teammates in not only taking the top seed in 9-4A into the UIL Class 4A, Division I playoffs, but by running the table all the way to the 4A-DI state championship game. They lost that game to Celina, but it was indeed another special season.

Jayden, also a member of the DCTF Rising 100, finished with 46 tackles, 14 pass break-ups, and three interceptions defensively (he didn’t see a ton of passes his way – can’t imagine why), and on offense, 54 catches, 958 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The voting for the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Whataburger Super Teams was by the public, and just under 300,000 votes were cast. No one else from the ETBlitz.com coverage area made the cut, but four other East Texans did: Longview linebacker Brenden Reese, Pleasant Grove defensive lineman Lance Jackson, Jefferson running back Kamran Williams, and Carthage’s offensive / defensive lineman Kash Courtney.

Come out, grab a bite and see us at Whataburger in Kilgore on Friday and honor Jayden – that’s at 108 N. Henderson Boulevard (Highway 259).

Here’s Jayden Sanders again, as he filmed this promotional video for ETBlitz.com prior to the kickoff of the 2024 football season, a part of our “Any questions?” campaign.
