The playoff run for Sabine High School’s boys, sadly, just came to an end Tuesday night.

The Cardinals ran into a tough Winnsboro team in round two, or the area round, of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 3A playoffs at Longview High School. Sabine, who were so offensive-minded through their regular season and their District 16-3A championship run, and a 12-game winning streak through the regular season and into the playoffs, had a hard time hitting shots in this one, and fell in defeat to the Red Raiders, 45-37.

Sabine ended the 2023-24 season with a 24-10 final record.

Clayne Simmons had 15 points to lead the Cardinals. Colt Sparks had seven points, as did Matt Smith, in the final game of the season.

The Red Raiders will go on to play the winner of Tatum-Redwater.
