RYLAN & PAYTIN | The Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Players of the Week!

When thinking of Overton lately, you might think of football.
But the Mustangs are pretty salty in basketball, too.
Rylan Holleman and the Mustangs have came on strong lately. And Paytin Thompson and her Gladewater Lady Bears? Going to the playoffs and looking good.
Holleman and Thompson are the Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Players of the Week for the week of January 27 through February 1!

Holleman’s name is familiar to Overton fans because he’s a multi-sport athlete, like so many Mustangs. But what he did last week was amazing.
In a 60-49 win over Alto, he had 24 points, went 7-of-9 from the free throw line, and had nine rebounds and an assist against the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday.
Then, in a home win over Mount Enterprise on Friday (65-44), Holleman had 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
The Mustangs are pushing to take the lead in District 22-2A, as the UIL Class 2A playoffs approach.
Congratulations to Rylan, a first-time Whataburger / ETB boys Player of the Week award-winner!
Now, to Miss Paytin Thompson.
She’s helping the Lady Bears stay in playoff contention in a tough district, 16-3A. She had 15 points, six steals, and four rebounds in a 44-35 win at home over White Oak on Friday.
The Lady Bears are in the postseason, and we congratulate Paytin for being a driving force in helping them do that – and for being the Whataburger / ETBlitz girls player of the week! It’s Paytin’s second time to win the award this school year; she won back in December, as well.
