RANGERS OPEN TODAY! | Kilgore College hosts Community Christian at 3

Time to get back to Ranger football.
You can almost hear Kilgore College head football coach Willie Gooden saying that on this, the day the Rangers open the 2025 season.
KC will host Community Christian (La) today at 3 p.m. at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium.
The Rangers are ranked 10th in the NJCAA national poll as the season begins, tied for that spot with Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Gooden starts his seventh season as head coach of the program he played for in his youth, and served in every assistant role imaginable. The proud former Ranger has a 44-18 record at his alma mater, and that’s includes back-to-back Southwest Junior College Football Conference championships in 2022 and 2023, and an appearance in the national final four playoff to cap off the ‘23 season.
Last year, though, things didn’t end very Ranger-like, and certainly not up to Gooden’s lofty expectations.
KC made the playoffs, but had a loss to Tyler Junior College, something the Rangers just haven’t done under Gooden. They finished 2024 with a 6-4 record.
Today, if the last couple of years are any indication, Community Christian could be overmatched.
KC won last year’s meeting, 63-0, and had 565 yards of tots offense.
