KILGORE’S TRUMAN AN ALL-STAR | Tate Truman selected to THSCA All-Star Game!
A Kilgore High School senior is on his way to Dell Diamond to represent the school as one of the best players in the state.
Tate Truman has been selected for the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Classes 1A-4A All-Star Game.
The game is Saturday, June 15, at noon at Dell Diamond, a pro baseball stadium in Round Rock.
It’ll be a North vs. South format, although the entire all-star roster hasn’t yet been released.
Truman recently competed for fun in Monday night’s Battle of The Badges softball game at Kilgore’s Driller Park, but the Bulldogs’ season ended last week in a playoff loss at home to Bullard.
Truman played in all 30 games for the Bulldogs, most frequently at third base and as a pitcher. He had a .398 batting average, a slugging percentage of .500, and an on-base percentage of .466. He had 35 hits – 26 of them were singles, nine of them doubles, including the only hit for the Diamond ‘Dogs in their first playoff game against Bullard to break up the no-hitter that Bullard’s David Wilson had going, in the seventh inning.
He had 21 RBI, scored 17 times in 2024, walked 12 times, struck out 10 times, had two sacrifice flies, reached on error three times, on a fielder’s choice four times, and five stolen bases.
In 17 innings pitched in eight games, Truman faced 84 batters and threw 292 pitches. He finished with a 2-2 record for KHS. He allowed 14 runs, seven of them earned, on 12 hits, walked 20, had seven strikeouts, an ERA of 2.88, and only allowed four stolen bases.
When more is announced on the all-star game, we’ll announce it here on ETBlitz.com, as well.
