KILGORE’S BULLARD AN ALL-STATE PICK | Colt Bullard makes THSBCA 4A All-State Team
It’s the offseason, but the Kilgore High School baseball team continues to make news.
First, Tate Truman was named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association’s 1A-4A All-Star Game this coming weekend (ALL-STAR GAME SATURDAY | Kilgore’s Truman, Tatum’s Gonzalez in the mix (etblitz.com)). Later today, ETBlitz.com will have the release of the District 17-4A All-District team.
Right now, it’s Colt Bullard headlining.
Bullard has been named to the THSBCA’s Class 4A All-State third team, at first base.
And Bullard is just a sophomore, one of a handful of talented sophomores in a Kilgore class that also includes Kolton Hale, Brodey Benson, Kayson Brooks, Cason Edney, Brayden Hargrove, and Kason Henry.
Bullard suited up all 30 games for the Bulldogs in the ’24 season. In 87 at-bats, he had a .368 batting average, an on-base percentage of .427, a slugging percentage of .621, 32 hits, 20 of them singles, seven doubles and five home runs. He had 31 RBI, which led the team. He scored 18 runs, walked six times, struck out 16 times, just three times looking. He reached on an error three times and on a fielder’s choice twice.
Colt made just three errors all season at first base.
As a pitcher, he threw 20 1/3 innings, and 367 pitches. He faced 102 batters, and allowed 28 hits, 17 runs (had a 2.41 ERA), walked 10, and struck out 12 (six looking).
