KILGORE PLAYOFF LIVE! | Ragin’ Red dismantles Little Cypress-Mauriceville, 61-14; here’s how it happened (game story coming later)

Dre Sanders returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, 85 yards in 14 seconds. There’s only 14 seconds off the freakin’ clock and Kilgore leads Little Cypress-Mauriceville, 7-0, after the extra point by Eddie Jiminez.

Wow, took our breath away, Dre’ Sanders! Last week it was Rayshaun Williams giving Kilgore a 7-0 lead over Mabank on the opening kickoff of the last regular season game, and this week, it’s Dre’ with the kick return for the score.

Joe Hale will have the recap, the regular game story, later on. I just thought you guys might want to catch us live, as things happen.

The Bulldogs defensively shut down LC-M on their first possession, take over at their own 21-yard-line,

Oh wow — this is unbelievable. Kayson Brooks just completed a short pass to T.K. White, and T.K. is GONE, flat-out GONE, a 79-yard TOUCHDOWN, KILGORE. Jiminez hits another point after, and it’s 14-0 Kilgore!

The Ragin’ Red has had the ball the grand total of 28 seconds: a 14-second, 85-yard kick return for a score, and a 14-second 79-yard pass play for a score. And fittingly, the score: 14-0 Bulldogs.

LC-M has the ball, now, at its own 34 — LC-M has 9 yards of total offense here with 9 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter.

They’re at midfield with a third and 11 at the 50. Quarterback rolls to his right, toward his own sideline, and he’s got nothing. It’s fourth down and long, right on the 50, and it appears they will punt from there. There’s no return and it rolled all the way down to the darn 1-yard-line. Kilgore will begin this drive with 7:18 left at its own 1. My goodness.

Kayson Brooks is in his own end zone, and running back Rayshaun Williams gets the hand-off. He breaks free, all the way to the 9 for 8 yards.

Brooks was going to pass but broke free for an 18-yard carry, all the way to the 26. It’s a first down.

He dishes off to Williams, who gets free for 19 yards and all the way almost to midfield, to the 45 for 19 yards.

Brooks throws out to Ja’Kalen Sheffield for a good gain to LC-M’s 43, but there’s a penalty. They just did the old ‘personal foul on both teams’ but ejected a defensive back for LC-M.

It’s first down Kilgore at LC-M’s 43, and then a 3-yard pass to Sheffield. Kilgore just had a touchdown by Williams called back, and now the ‘Dogs are in second and 10 at the LC-M 43.

Graves got half of the holding penalty back and it’s third and 9 at the 33. Brooks hits waters for a 13-yard gain, and that’s a first down for Kilgore at LC-M’s 19. Three plays later, Rayshaun Williams is in the end zone on an 8-yard run, and after Jiminez’s extra point, Kilgore leads 21-0.

The Bulldogs just took the ball 99 YARDS and scored. That has to be demoralizing.

Things are looking grim for LC-M. No rhyming intended.

They just got worse. Bi’Syn Williams just blocked a punt, and the ball went out of the back of the end zone! Kilgore now leads 23-0, with 58 seconds left in THE FIRST QUARTER! And LC-M will have to kick the ball back to Kilgore!

T.K. White just returned the kickoff for a touchdown, and some idiot called a hold, the second touchdown called back tonight. Wow. I hate pity officiating. You can pass this around, I did just write that. How about I’ll go ahead and write this: NOBODY, not one single living soul, EVER went to see a game for an official unless it was his wife. This is an opinion column, so you can quote me on that.

Rayshaun Williams just scored on a 37-yard run, and with 6.3 seconds left in the first quarter — you read that right — Kilgore is up 30-0.

LC-M — who’s “Battling Bears” aren’t battling too much so far tonight — run two quick plays, and that’s it for the first quarter. The second quarter is coming up.

This note that I meant to make last night: Malakoff booted Liberty-Eylau from the playoffs.

Did I mention what goes around comes around in my column last week, you know, where L-E was passing on Sabine with a 49-0 lead?

I guess it came around. Just sayin’.

Scores tonight:

Gladewater leads Mount Vernon in Mount Vernon, 21-15, with four minutes left in the second quarter.

Troup is up 20-0 with seven minutes left in the half.

Dre Sanders just intercepted a pass and returned it all the way to the LC-M 7-yard-line.

Kayson Brooks’ first pass is incomplete into the end zone. On second down, Williams is stopped at the 6.

Kilgore can’t punch it in, and Jiminez ends up booting a 22-yard field goal, upping Kilgore’s lead to 33-0, with 6:58 left in the half.

LC-M’s offense had its backs up against the end zone and lost the ball, back into the end zone. Kilgore’s Cameron Christian recovered the ball, a fumble, for an apparent touchdown (39-0 Kilgore). LC-M players ran onto the field from the sideline and — again, this is a column — SHOULD BE SUSPENDED.

Officials are huddling in the end zone as I write this. Kilgore coach Clint Fuller is in the end zone wanting — and deserving — an explanation. A player is down, an injury, it appears. We’re sorting it out.

A player from LC-M is up, and is now back to his own sideline. Officials are now at the Kilgore 20-yard-line, talking to the Kilgore coaching staff. Now, the head official, the referee, has walked all the way over to the 5-yard-line. Kilgore Superintendent Dr. Andy Baker is on the turf, but near the goalposts. There are KISD resource officers down there, as well, and so is KHS athletic director Mike Wood.

It may be all for naught; both teams are back onto the field, and we’re kicking the extra point. There it goes, by Jiminez. Kilgore’s up, 40-0, with 5:47 left in the half.

LC-M continues to be unable to move the ball. But not the Bulldogs.

Kayson Brooks just continues to find receivers and this time, the receiver was a running back: Williams, who made the catch and took it the distance, over 60 yards for the touchdown. Kilgore is in front mercilessly, a 47-0 lead with 2:57 left in the half.

If it seems like I’m skipping the LC-M offensive possessions, it’s because I have been; they’re not moving the football. Kilgore’s defense is shutting them down. Kilgore is kneeling on the ball at its own 40-yard line, with 1:29 left in the first half, as if the game was over. This is a classy move, and also allows the two teams to hopefully avoid confrontation.

We’re going to the half with the Kilgore Bulldogs in front, 47-0. We’ll be back shortly.

It’s still halftime. Not leaving y’all hanging, just waiting on the game to start. And not certain if we’ll have a running clock or not; we’ll see.

The clock is running, in fact, and on a third and long, it’s an incomplete pass — but the clock has stopped. I guess that answers our question. It’s fourth and 12, 10:52 left in the third quarter, and the clock is in fact stopped with the incompletion.

Kilgore gets the ball for the first time in the second half, and the Bulldogs will take over after a 36-yard punt at its own 41, up 47-0.

Lakeyleon Graves makes the catch from Kayson Graves for 7 yards, to the 48-yard-line.

On the next play, Brooks gets it to Sanders on an end-around play, and Sanders crosses midfield for a first down. It’s at LC-M’s 47-yard-line.

Tyler Johnigan gets a first down on a 12-yard catch, and we’re under 7 1/2 minutes to play.

And these idiots have just ejected someone else. This is RIDICULOUS.

These officials have ejected EIGHT PLAYERS TOTAL from this game. This is absolutely uncalled for. There appeared to be no incident on field, nothing. They just penalized Kilgore 15 yards, put Kilgore in a first and 25, and ejected a player that I do not have an identity to mention. And that player will not be allowed to play next week.

This isn’t right, it’s not right.

A 9 -yard pass to Graves gives Kilgore a first-and-goal at the LC-M 5, and then Williams scores yet again, a 5-yard run and on the drive’s 11-th play. Kilgore leads 54-0 with 3:32 left in the third quarter.

LC-M finally scores with 10:48 left, a 1-yard run that makes it 54-7.

On the next series, Kilgore’s Maddox Wright came right back, a 72-yard touchdown run, and put Kilgore over the 60-point mark for the night. Jiminez hit another point after, and gave us a 61-7 score.

Officials have lost control of this game on the LC-M side. I’ve seen worse on the fighting. But these officials have lost control. And I will print the name of every single official the second I have it.

LC-M running back J’Lynn Norris just scored on a 1-yard run; with 6:16 left, it’s 61-14, Kilgore.

The Bulldogs have the ball at LC-M’s 45, with 3:57 and counting left. Well, not counting now; Kilgore just called a time out.

Kilgore turns the ball over on downs. LC-M will take over with 3:52 left in the game.

On first down, the ball was snapped over the quarterback’s head, and eventually, the Bears get into fourth and 20, at their own 35.

Kilgore goes into victory formation — kneel down — with two minutes left, and the clock is running out.

Time is out. And the season is over for Little Cypress Mauriceville, 61-14. Good riddance, the way this one went.

I said we would get the list of the officials who called tonight’s game, and we did; it’s public information. They’re from the Houston chapter.

The referee was Matt Levin. The umpire was Benjamin Trimmer. The head line judge was Robert Nolan. The line judge was Mark Klecka. The back judge was Curtis Cooper. The side judge: Jessee Wayne Pratt. And the field judge was Thermyn King-Jones.

A very quick check didn’t yield any immediate connection between any of these individuals and LC-M.

According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Stafford defeated Houston Wheatley, 49-7; Kilgore will meat Stafford in round two, at a date, site and time to be announced. As soon as that has been determined, we’ll announce it here on ETBlitz.com, and on our social media.

Thank y’all for reading, and we’ll have Joe Hale’s game story up ASAP, as well as coverage of our other ETBlitz-area playoff games.
