KILGORE FISHING TEAM TURNING IT UP | Great weekend at Toledo Bend
Turns out, you don’t have to be around for years to be pretty good.
Here at ETBlitz.com, we’d been meaning to do a story on the Kilgore High School fishing team, and over the weekend, they gave us good reasons.
The team, fishing at Toledo Bend on the Sabine River, had a good tournament.
Blaine Thompson won the Big Bass Trophy, and got his own personal-best, for an 8.89-pound bass. Thompson’s team, according to KHS Fishing’s Facebook page, took 11th place overall with 11.05 pounds.
Connor Baker won second place in Big Bass and also got his personal best with a 7.09-pounder. Baker’s team finished 13th with 10.43 pounds.
Morgan Payne and Peyton Roberts, it’s noted, finished 16th (9.63 pounds), and Collin Burrows had his personal best, a 4.89-pounder, during the pre-fishing day on Friday.
The team is coached by John Lewis, and some of the other places they’ve fished in the last couple of seasons include Lake O’The Pines, Lake Palestine, Lake Tyler, Wright Patman, Sam Rayburn and Bob Sandlin.
