Home field isn’t always an advantage, as Kilgore has lost its last two games at Stream-Flo Field, after dropping a 9-6 decision to Center on Thursday night – played on Thursday instead of the Good Friday holiday this week.

Thursday night, though, Kilgore had the win in its hands – a 4-2 lead after three innings – only to allow Center to score five runs in the top of the fourth, and hold the lead for the win.

Kilgore committed five errors, Center four, in the contest. Kilgore out-hit the Lady ‘Riders, 10-8.

The Lady Bulldogs are now 1-3 in District 17-4A play. They’ll be off the remainder of this Easter weekend, and play at Carthage on Tuesday, starting with the junior varsity game at 4:30, varsity to follow, and then next Friday, April 5, they’re at Henderson in that same format.

Eva Ray went 3-for-4 against Center, including a double, and had an RBI. Thaiona Moore also had a double, and went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Jae’la Williams, Molly Quine, Karsyn Stover and Aniyah Polk each had a hit for KHS. Stover had 2 RBI and Addison Pierson had one.

In the bottom of the third, Ray doubled to lead off the inning, and Moore singled, and Stover hit a sac fly, giving the Lady Bulldogs the advantage. It wouldn’t hold, though, as Center made its comeback.

Moore threw the complete game, allowing Center the eight hits and five walks. She struck out five.
