Both Kilgore High School soccer teams picked up road wins on Friday at Tenaha, games that had originally been scheduled to be played at home, but had been swapped earlier in the season due to field conditions at Tenaha’s stadium back at that point.

Kilgore’s Lady Bulldogs topped Tenaha, 5-0, with five different young ladies scoring for KHS: Reese Burgess, Maria Barron, Angelica Canchola, Juliana Cedillo, and Sole Hunt. Gloria Cedillo and Lexi Luna each had an assist for Kilgore.

Kilgore’s girls JV also beat Tyler Legacy on Thursday, by the way, 6-0, a revenge game from earlier this season.

The Lady ‘Dogs, coached by Todd BonDurant and assisted by Jason Bragg, have won seven straight games. They’re 15-3-1, 11-1 in District 15-4A, and they’ve got a big one Tuesday night: they’re home against Henderson, a 5 p.m. junior varsity start, with varsity to follow.

Hendeson leads the district by virtue of its 2-1 win over Kilgore back on Feb. 2.

Counting Tuesday’s home game against the Lady Lions, Kilgore has four games left in the regular season prior to the UIL Class 4A playoffs: Tuesday vs. Henderson, at Spring Hill on Friday, at home against Carthage on March 12, and at Tatum on March 15.

The Bulldogs beat Tenaha, 6-0. Diego Rojas scored three times: he scored to begin the scoring, scored the first goal of the second half, then scored to finish it.

In between, Christian Cedillo scored, unassisted, and Kilgore led, 2-0, at halftime – Rojas’s first goal was unassisted, as well.

In the second half, Enrique Salazar assisted Rojas on a goal on a header.

Jordy Velasquez scored on a header on an assist from Adan Reyes, and then Reyes scored on a header off a cross from Jose Gonzalez, another member of a talented freshman class for coach Hector Peralez.

After that, Rojas scored one last time to wrap up all the scoring.

Kilgore’s ‘Dogs are 17-1-2 overall, 10-1 in 15-4A play, and they’ve won three straight since being upset by Center on the road a couple of weeks ago, their first district loss in three seasons.

The Bulldogs also face Henderson Tuesday night – they’ll be on the road, with the junior varsity game also starting at 5 p.m. at Henderson ISD Stadium, varsity to follow.

Kilgore’s remaining boys soccer schedule has the Bulldogs at Henderson tomorrow; at Caddo Mills, varsity-only, on Friday at 5:30 p.m. (non-district); at Carthage next Tuesday, March 12, with JV beginning at 10 a.m., varsity to follow (it’s spring break); at home at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium against Tatum on Friday, March 15 (same times); and then at Nacogdoches, another non-district game, on March 19, varsity-only, at 6 p.m., in what will amount to a 4A playoff warm-up game.

Elsewhere in ETBlitz.com-area soccer, the Sabine Lady Cardinals lost to Center last weekend, 1-0; Sabine’s boys soccer dropped a rare loss at Center, 6-4, in double overtime, the Cardinals’ second straight loss – they’re now 15-3-1 overall and 7-3 in 15-4A, down to third in the district standings.
