Kilgore College’s Lady Rangers will face the No. 1 team in the nation today at 11 a.m., as a part of the NJCAA Women’s National Basketball Tournament.
The tournament is being played in its entirety at the Ford Center in Casper, Wyoming.
KC (24-9) will meet Chipola (Florida, 30-3 overall) in a second-round game today at 11 – that game can be seen live, streamed on ESPN+ (for a subscription) here: Live Sports Streaming, Original Shows & Award-Winning Documentaries | ESPN+.
Chipola is 30-3 overall and averages 51 rebounds a game, which leads the nation.

The winner of KC-Chipola will play again on Saturday at 11 a.m. against either Shelton State (Alabama) or South Plains (Texas). Here’s a look at the tournament bracket, although this is not updated; it’s just the tournament’s bracket as it was in its original format: 2025 NJCAA Women’s DI Tournament Bracket.pdf.
It’s a long tournament. Winning today would only put the Lady Rangers in the quarterfinals on Saturday. The semifinals are on Monday at 5 p.m. our time (4 p.m. Mountain time, in Casper), and the tournament’s championship game is Tuesday at 5 p.m. our time (4 Mountain time).
Shelton State is a junior college in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where the University of Alabama is also located; Shelton State is the No. 8 seed in this tournament; Like Chipola, Shelton had a first-round bye and hasn’t yet played a game in Casper (the top eight seeds had the first round off).

South Plains is actually in Levelland, Texas, and was the No. 9 seed in the tournament. South Plains beat the No. 24 seed, Monroe College (N.Y.), on Wednesday, 88-69.
The Lady Rangers, of course, opened the tournament on Tuesday morning with a win over Walters State (Tennessee); here’s our recap of that contest: KC WINS! | Knocks out Walters State; Lady Rangers face No. 1 Chipola (Florida) on Thursday.
Today’s opponent, Chipola, only has three losses all season and two of them came to one team: Northwest Florida State. They also defeated Northwest Florida State in the championship game of their conference’s tournament before making the trip to Casper.
In 33 games this season, the Lady Indians average 78 points, 13.5 assists, and the 51.6 rebounds per game. They hit on average 41 percent of their shots per game, and 31 percent of the three-point shots they take. They’re also a 67-percent free throw shooting team.
They’ve won four in a row, and they’re 8-0 in neutral-site games this season.
Kanija Daniel is their leading scorer, averaging right at 18 points a game; Daniya McDonald averages 11.6 points a game, and Aniyah Ruddock averages 10 a game. McDonald also averages 6.4 rebounds a game; Daniel, 4.9, and Ruddock, 4 a game.
