KC BASKETBALL | Catching up with the Rangers, Lady Rangers as holiday break nears its end
The 2025-26 Kilgore College basketball schedules are below, updated with scores from previous games this season, record, and more information, including the teams’ rosters for this season.
The Rangers are currently in their Christmas / holiday break and return to play at home on Saturday, January 3, a Region XIV Conference game against Lee College. KC is currently 10-2 overall, and went into the holiday break on a three-game winning streak. The Rangers, coached by Robert Byrd, are 3-1 in conference play. They have a 7-1 record at home (Masters Gymnasium) and a 3-1 record on the road.
Coach Stephanie Williams’ Lady Rangers won the Region XIV Conference Women’s Tournament a year ago, and made it to the NJCAA National Tournament, the first time the KC women’s team did so without program founder Evelyn Blalock at the helm. Right now, the Lady Rangers are on holiday break, as well, with a 7-6 overall record. They lost two games headed into the break, and they’re 2-0 at home, 4-0 in true road games, but 1-6 in neutral-site games (tournament play). The Lady Rangers haven’t yet started conference play, and that’s coming soon.
They return to play with two games at home this Friday and Saturday, the Evelyn Blalock Classic. From the KC athletic website, KCRangerNation.com, this on Blalock’s impact at KC: “The classic honors legendary KC coach Evelyn Blalock, who launched the Lady Rangers’ basketball program in 1979. During her 18 seasons at KC, Blalock built one of the NJCAA’s premier women’s basketball programs, compiling a 408-166 record and winning national championships in 1988, 1990 and 1993. Under her leadership, the Lady Rangers captured six Region XIV titles and qualified for the national tournament three additional times in 1986, 1987 and 1991.”
There are two games on Friday at KC’s Masters Gymnasium, and two on Saturday (KC’s game is also reflected in its schedule below). On Friday, Panola College will face Midland College at 1 p.m., and then the Lady Rangers meet Hill College at 3 p.m. On Saturday, opponents swap and Panola faces Hill at 11 a.m., then the KC-Midland game tips off at 1.
