HOW ‘BOUT THEM MUSTANGS! | Three to state lifting meet
A big congratulations to three Overton High School powerlifters, who have made it past the regional round at the Region 3, Division 4 meet at Arp High School, and are going on to the Texas High School Powerlifting Association’s state lifting meet in Abilene on Saturday, March 23. Wade Powers qualified with a fifth-place finish in the 165-pound class; Justin Weir with a fifth-place finish in the 181-pound class; and Kadden Williams with a second-place finish in the super heavyweight class. Powers 400 in the squat, 230 in the bench press, and 380 in the deadlift, a total of 1,010. Weir finished with a 370 in the squat, a 315 in the bench, and a 425 in the deadlift, for a 1,110-pound total. And Williams squatted 675 pounds, had a 455-pound bench, and a 500-pound deadlift for a 1,630-pound total. Congratulations to these guys, and good luck at the state meet later this month!
