Scattershooting around the ETBlitz.com coverage area in scores from the University Interscholastic League’s softball playoffs…

  • Henderson topped Van in game one of their best-of-three-game playoff series, 4-0, then won game two, 7-5, and the series is over – just like that. Chloe Ellis was pretty impressive in game one: she allowed Van no hits, and also went over the 500 career strikeouts mark in the win. We’ll have more on this game later, but there will be no need for a game three: Henderson (24-6-1) advances to round two, the area round, of the playoffs, and will meet either Pleasant Grove (8-10-1) or Nevada Community (12-4-1) this coming week. When that’s settled and the playoff details are set, we’ll have it here on ETBlitz.com. Community won game one of the series, 12-2.
  • Gilmer (22-4-2), also playing in the 4A-DI playoffs, won by the same score (7-5) over Lindale in game one of their series being played at Pine Tree High School in Longview. Alexis Kemp – to no surprise to ETBlitz – struck out 12 in a complete-game win. Game two is today (Saturday) at 1 p.m., also at Pine Tree, and game three, if needed, would follow. For game two, and if necessary, game three, here’s the link for tickets: Lindale vs Gilmer – BIDISTRICT SOFTBALL PLAYOFF SERIES – Game 2 (and 3 if necessary) | Pine Tree ISD Box Office. Tickets are $5 each for adults, $3 each for students. The Gilmer-Lindale winner will meet either Sulphur Springs (22-7) or Wills Point (7-13-1) in round two next week.
  • Troup defeated Edgewood, remember, on Thursday night, 8-3, one of the few games that actually got played that night due to bad weather – we brought you that story on Friday morning here on ETBlitz.com. Troup shut out Edgewood, 6-0, on Friday night, and that series is DONE. Troup (26-5) advances to round two of the UIL Class 3A, Division II playoffs, and will meet either Harmony or DeKalb next week. DeKalb leads that series, having won game one, and it will conclude today. When arrangements are complete, we’ll have them here on the site.
  • Arp defeated Grand Saline, 2-0, in game one of a series also being played at Lindale. The Lady Tigers (26-5) will try to close it out today (Saturday) at 2 p.m., back at Lindale, but if they need a game three in this series, it’ll follow a few moments after the conclusion of game two. Tickets are $6 each for adults, $4 each for students, and here’s the link those that are going will need to get ‘em: Game two is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in Lindale, with game three to follow if needed. Tickets are the same price, and here’s the link: Arp vs Grand Saline- GAME 2 of series | Lindale Box Office.
  • White Oak, unfortunately for the Ladynecks and their fans, lost game two of their best-of-three series with Mineola in Winnsboro, and the season ends for the Ladynecks, with a 14-14-1 overall record.
  • Overton also dropped game one of their series against Cross Roads, 7-3, on Friday night. The series resumes today (Saturday) at Athens High School. Game two starts at 1 p.m., and game three, if needed, would be 30 minutes after the end of game two. Cross Roads (25-9) had 10 hits and capitalized on three errors by Overton (16-11-1) in game one. In the game one loss for Overton, Bryleigh Nelson had two hits: a home run and a double, and 3 RBI. Kelsey Vaught, Mason Fenter and Anna Perkins all each had a hit; Perkins’ was a double.
