HENDERSON SOFTBALL LOSES HEARTBREAKER… after officials reverse decision on 7th-inning play (w/ video)

Henderson High School’s Lady Lions are out of the UIL Class 4A, Division I playoffs, and in aggravating fashion.

Facing Nevada Community in game three of a best-of-three series in Athens, Henderson was leading 4-3 in the seventh inning. With Community batting and two outs in the books, Henderson needed only one out to win, and advance to round two next week.

And it appeared they got it, in a steal play gone wrong for Community. The runner was tagged out, and officials ruled the game was over — the head umpire, specifically. But that wouldn’t be the end. Community’s coach said there was obstruction on the play, and after a discussion, officials agreed. The umpire overturned his call and allowed the game, now tied, to continue.

Henderson would lose the game, 5-4, in extra innings.

We’ll have more on this game later, but we do have the video of the play.
