And the hits just keep on coming.

Not talking about Kendrick Lamar this time.

Coach Patricia Nelson and the Tatum High School Lady Eagles went to Winona Monday night and blasted Edgewood, 71-28, in the first, or bi-district, round of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 3A-Division II playoffs.

It was no surprise, as Tatum (23-6 overall) has won 11 straight games, won its district and Edgewood didn’t score in the second quarter Monday.

In other first-round playoff games involving girls basketball teams in the ETBlitz.com coverage area, Henderson fell to Canton in the Class 4A-Division I girls playoffs, 56-26. Chloe Howe had 20 points for Canton, and Allison Rickman had 14, and Troup lost to Quitman, 37-16.

We hope to have more on those games shortly – Henderson finished its season with a 14-15 overall record; Troup finished up with a 23-9 overall record.

For Tatum, Kamdyn Scott, a five-time Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Player of the Week, showed out yet again, scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 steals against Edgewood, who was just overwhelmed from the get-go. She also had seven rebounds, four assists and blocked three shots.

Kaleigh Hooker had 15 points, seven assists, four steals, and three rebounds, and Mariyah Bradley had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Rhianna Harris scored nine for Tatum, and had four rebounds and three steals; Aundrea Bradley had seven, to go with eight rebounds and seven assists;  Patience Price had four points, four steals, two rebounds and two assists; and Alecia Halton hit a free throw for one point, and also had four steals, four assists, a rebound, and blocked a shot.

Alayah Creer, Saniya Cotton, Addison Saunders and Kyndal Greenwood didn’t score, but Cotton had two assists and a rebound; Saunders and Creer each had an assist; and Greenwood had an assist and a rebound.

Tatum led 42-11 at halftime.

The Lady Eagles will face Hooks next: Hooks was ranked No. 9 in the state in the last Texas Girls Coaches Association poll. Hooks is 29-5 this season, and has also won 11 straight games.

As of 8:53 a.m. Tuesday, the Tatum Lady Eagles Basketball Facebook page still had a message that area playoff information was coming soon. When that game is scheduled, ETBlitz.com will also be glad to let everyone know when and where.

As for girls playoff games involving ETBlitz-area programs that are scheduled tonight:

Gladewater (10-14) will play Mineola (19-14) tonight at 7:15 p.m. at the University of Texas at Tyler’s Patriot Center, in the 3A-Division I playoffs, and Sabine (9-21) will face Malakoff (28-4) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Tyler Junior College’s Floyd Wagstaff Gymnasium – that’s also a 3A-DI playoff.
