Y’all know we’ve got eight teams playing tonight, right?

Eight teams. Two in big 4A (Kilgore and Pine Tree), one in 4A, Division II (Carthage), one in 3A-DI (Gladewater, who’s lost one game by one point), two in 3A-DII (Troup and Arp), a 2A-DI team (Beckville) and a 2A-DII team (Overton).

Very few of them have games being streamed online, which is very aggravating, since UIL rules are so tight on those things.

I’ll be back with more on who you’re able to see, and who you’re not, in just a little while. Right now, it’s picks time, baby.

After picking 253 games this season, here’s where we stand.

Jacob was a little stupid last week, but just a little stupid: he picked West Sabine to upset Overton, for some reason. He now admits he saw the error of his ways. He went 18-3, and while he didn’t win the week, he and Billy do still sit atop the standings at 194-58-1, because Billy also went 18-3.

The “1” on everybody’s record, remember, was the tie between Dallas and Green Bay.

We’re like doorsteps. Joe Hale and Dennis Jacobs are tied at a game behind Jacob and Billy, tied at third, each with an overall record of 192-60-1.

Ashtyn is in fourth (188-64-1), and I’m fifth (186-66-1).

Dereck is in sixth (181-71-1), tied with Jenna (181-71-1) there after she had a great week last week.

Alex slipped a bit but is in eighth, still with a very good record (179-73-1). And Clayton and Jeremy Newlin are also tied (169-83-1).

Last week, three of us went 19-2: Dennis, Jenna and myself. Jacob and Ashtyn each went 18-3. Billy and Joe went 17-4 each, and then a host of folks — Alex, Clayton and Jeremy — went 15-6. Dereck got off to a bad start in the 2A and 3A playoff games and couldn’t recover, but still didn’t do horribly; he finished 14-7.
