ENERGY WELDFAB SCOREBOARD | Basketball playoff scores, soccer scores, what’s up with KC

EDITOR’S NOTE: Here are scores from recent days and schedules for upcoming games across the East Texas landscape, from several different high school and junior college sports, brought to you by Energy Weldfab. UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE (UIL) GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS

Class 3A, Division II regional semifinals (Kaufman High School), Friday, Feb. 21: Paradise 62, Tatum 57. Tatum eliminated from playoffs in third round. Lady Eagles, coached by Patricia Nelson, finish the 2024-25 season as District 16-3A champions, bi-district champions (over Edgewood) and area champions (over Hooks). Tatum completes the season having gone undefeated at home (8-0), unbeaten in 16-3A play (12-0), and with a 24-7 overall record.

UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE (UIL) BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS

Class 4A, Division I area playoff (Mount Pleasant High School), Friday, Feb. 21: Paris 72, Kilgore 47. Kilgore eliminated from playoffs in second round. The Bulldogs finished the 2024-25 season as runners-up in District 16-4A (Chapel Hill won the district, but split the season series with Kilgore), and bi-district champions (over Mineola in a game played at the University of Texas at Tyler). Kilgore’s Bulldogs, coached by Jeff Coleman, complete the season with a 13-14 overall record.

Class 3A, Division I area playoff (Pittsburg High School), Friday, Feb. 21: Tatum 69, Liberty-Eylau 59. Tatum’s Eagles, coached by Brett Carr, are now 29-2 on the season and have won 15 straight, including bi-district (over Mineola) and now area (against Liberty-Eylau, who was undefeated prior to Friday’s loss to Tatum). Tatum moves on to face Ponder in the 3A-DI regional finals. Details will be here on ETBlitz.com as soon as they’re announced.

Class 2A, Division I area playoff (Hallsville High School), Friday, Feb. 21: Shelbyville 42, Overton 40. The season comes to an end for the Overton Mustangs, who went three rounds deep in the football playoffs and now have had great basketball success this school year, having knocked off previous District 22-2A champion Douglass (and ended Douglass’ 45-game district win streak) to take the district championship, and then defeated Union Grove in the first round of the playoffs. But the Mustangs finish the season with a 23-6 overall record.

UIL BOYS SOCCER

Friday’s scores: Kilgore 4, Carthage 1; Pine Tree 8, Tatum 0. Games unreported: Center at Henderson; Sabine vs. Tenaha (at Spring Hill)

Tuesday’s games (Feb. 25): Kilgore at Henderson, 5 p.m. JV start; Carthage at Tenaha, 6 p.m. (varsity only); Center at Pine Tree, 5 p.m. JV start; Sabine at Tatum (4 p.m. boys JV start; varsity girls at 5:30; varsity boys, 7:15.

UIL GIRLS SOCCER

Friday’s scores: Kilgore 8, Carthage 0 (Lexi Lara scores twice for Kilgore, winners of 10 straight and at the top of the District 15-4A standings); Spring Hill 4, Sabine 3; Pine Tree 13, Tatum 1. Unreported: Henderson vs. Center.

Tuesday’s games (Feb. 25): Sabine at Tatum (4 p.m. boys JV start; varsity girls at 5:30; varsity boys, 7:15); Carthage at Spring Hill, 5 p.m. (varsity only); Pine Tree at Center (5 p.m. JV start); Henderson at Kilgore (5 p.m. JV start).

REGION XIV CONFERENCE MEN’S BASKETBALL

Saturday’s games (Feb. 21): Angelina College at Bossier Parish, 2 p.m.; Lamar State-Port Arthur at Kilgore College, 4 p.m.; Panola College at Trinity Valley, 4 p.m.; Tyler Junior College at Coastal Bend, 4 p.m.; Lee College at Navarro College, 4 p.m.

Monday’s games (Feb. 24): Angelina College at Lamar State-Port Arthur, 7 p.m. (a make-up from Jan. 22)

Wednesday’s games (Feb. 26): Bossier Parish at Lamar State-Port Arthur, 6 p.m.; Coastal Bend at Angelina College, 7 p.m.; Blinn at Lee College, 7 p.m.; Kilgore College at Panola College, 7:30 p.m.; Trinity Valley at Tyler, 7:30 p.m.; Navarro College at Panola College, 7:30 p.m.
