UIL Class 4A, Division I playoffs

Bi-district: Kilgore 8, Lufkin Hudson 0 (Tomato Bowl, Jacksonville, Thursday night, March 20). Kilgore (19-3-1) advances to round two — the area round — to meet Sulphur Springs (20-6-1), a 3-1 winner in double overtime over Chapel Hill on Thursday.  Details of Kilgore-Sulphur still pending.

UIL Class 4A, Division II playoffs

Bi-district: Henderson 7, Crockett 0 (Pine Tree High School’s Pirate Stadium, Thursday night, March 20). Henderson (12-6) advances to area / round two to face either Pittsburg (16-4) or Mineola (15-6); those two meet Friday night at Mount Vernon.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER PLAYOFFS

UIL Class 4A, Division I playoffs

Bi-district: Kilgore 5, Lufkin 0 (Tomato Bowl, Jacksonville, Thursday night, March 20). Kilgore (17-3-2) advances to area / second round to meet Sulphur Springs (18-3-1), who defeated Chapel Hill, 3-1, on Thursday. As with the boys game, details of Kilgore-Sulphur still pending.

UIL Class 4A, Division II playoffs

Bi-district: Henderson (6-10-1) vs. Madisonville (21-2), Friday night, March 21, 6:30 p.m. at Lufkin Hudson High School (6735 Ted Trout Drive, Lufkin, TX 75904). Tickets are $5 each for adults, $3 each for students. The winner meets either Bullard (17-1) or North Lamar (8-10) in round two.

JUNIOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL

NJCAA WOMEN’S NATIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

17-seed Kilgore College (23-9) meets 16-seed Walters State (Tenn.; 25-5), Tuesday, March 25, in round one of the NJCAA Women’s Tournament in Casper, Wyoming at 11 a.m. Central Time. The game can be streamed here (NJCAA) on the NJCAA’s streaming network, or on ESPN+. The winner will face the tournament’s No. 1 seed, Chipola College (30-3), from Marianna, Florida, on Thursday also at 11 a.m. Central time. It’s a 24-team tournament; the top eight seeds get byes into the second round.
