ARLINGTON – One thing that was guaranteed in the final moments was that a rookie would be the 2024 PBR World Champion.

In a tight world title race, Cassio Dias outlasted John Crimber to win his first world title and also take home rookie of the year on Sunday here at AT&T Stadium.

It really did come down to the last bull of the year, with Crimber, a rookie as well, from Decatur, Texas, needing to ride to have a shot at being the world champion. But Crimber bucked off and that helped give Dias, a rookie from Brazil, the world title.

In round three, only four men made the 8 seconds. Sage Kimzey hit 91 points on top of Preachers Kid (see video below). Kimzey would take that ride and a big ride on top of Let’s Roll in the fourth round to win the PBR finals event and a $350,000 payday.

Kaiden Loud was able to make a ride in round three on top Miller Time for 89.75 points. Crimber put together the highest ride of the finals with a 95 pointer on Big Bank. Dias would answer the bell with his first ride of the finals with 92.50 on Ricky Vaugn.

In the fourth round, which is a draft, you pick the bull you want to get on. Dener Barbosa connected for 88.25 on Buffalo Heifer. Brady Filder hit 90.25 on Montana Jacket. Silvano Alves scored 85.50 on Ghost Face. Kaique Pacheco was good for 88.75 on Mahan. Daylon Swearingen hit 89.25 on Mr. Right Now, and Juilo Cesar Marques hit 81.50 on Norse God to round out the event.

But the big news of the world finals was Dias taking home the $1 million and the world title buckle and his first world title in the very first season of his career.
