CYCLONE STAMPEDE PICK CONTEST | Deadline to enter is 6:59 p.m. tonight! Here’s how to play, the prize, and a list of this weekend’s games
EDITOR’S NOTE: The deadline to enter the Cyclone Stampede Pick-Off for this weekend is 6:59 p.m. tonight. Don’t fret: if you don’t enter this week, enter next week.
We don’t do many contests here at ETBlitz.com.
So when we have one, we make it good. We even like to give it a name. We LOVE naming things.
The Cyclone Stampede Picks Contest – catchy, huh? – begins this week, and continues through the college football bowl season.
The winner gets what we’re calling an ETBlitz.com Tailgate Party Pack, complete with a special package from Clower Meat Market, a charcuterie board made specifically by Kilgore-based Back Porch Creations for this ETBlitz giveaway, enough Dr. Pepper to quench the thirst of a small army, and much more.
Here’s how it works:
- Enter this week, or any week, leading up to the start of this year’s college football bowl games. You enter by making your picks each week in our 21-game contest, then e-mailing your picks to mlucas@etblitz.com.
- We take the top five finishers at the end of the weekend, after “Monday Night Football,” and those five are entered into our College Football Pick-Off.
- The UIL State Football Championships are at AT&T Stadium the week of Dec. 18-21. At the end of that weekend, there will be 30 finalists entered into the College Football Pick-Off.
- You fill out who you think will win all of this year’s college football bowl games. The best record from the 30 finalists after the College Football Playoff National Championship Game will win the prize pack.
Here are this week’s games. There are 21 of them, and then the score tiebreakers at the bottom.
Send your name, your picks and the score tiebreaker in an e-mail to ETBlitz.com editor / publisher Mitch Lucas at mlucas@etblitz.com.
The top five winners from this weekend advance to the college portion of the game.
For example, for JOHN DOE to enter this contest, he would look below, and write a list of who he believes will win all 21 of this week’s games: Kilgore, Gilmer, Arp, Tatum, Troup, West Rusk, Overton, Kilgore College, Texas, SMU, A&M, West Virginia, Georgia, Oregon, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Green Bay, Denver, Kansas City, L.A. Chargers, and Houston.
Then he’ll fill out the three tiebreakers, which this week is the total scores from the Gilmer-Center game, the Kilgore College-Tyler, and the Houston-Dallas game.
Then John Doe will send that list to the e-mail above. He’s entered. That’s it.
And if his picks are in the top five this weekend, he’s now in the college football picks game for a shot at the tailgate pack.
Here’s the thing: to enter this weekend’s picks contest, you have to have it in by 6:59 p.m. TONIGHT. Any e-mails we get after 6:59 p.m. tonight won’t be counted, and you’ll have to enter another week.
If you enter this week, that’s smart, because you’ll likely not have nearly as many people picking against you. Next week, the list will be up on MONDAY, so there will be many more entries.
Good luck in the Stampede!
