CROSS-COUNTRY REGIONALS! | Kilgore, Henderson boys teams going; Henderson’s Alejandro, Kilgore’s girls team, Gilmer runners going, as well

Cross-country district meets are in the books, and several runners in the ETBlitz.com coverage area from Kilgore High School and Henderson High School are now preparing for regionals.

Kilgore’s boys finished second in their district, 16-4A, at Lear Park, where host-team Pine Tree swept – the Pirates won the boys, girls, junior varsity boys and junior varsity girls.

The Kilgore girls CC team finished third.

Henderson’s boys were third, and the girls, fifth.

In addition to the top individual performers, the top three teams from each district move on to regionals, which for UIL Region II teams,  is next Monday in Grand Prairie, at Lynn Creek Park. So Kilgore and Henderson will both send their boys teams to Grand Prairie, and Kilgore’s girls team will also go.

Pine Tree captured the district title for the boys with four of the top five finishers. The fastest time was by PT’s Isaiah Martinez, who ran the 5K course in Longview in 16 minutes, 30 seconds.

Henderson’s Adrian Saucedo was in sixth overall, in a time of 16 minutes, 59 seconds, and Jorge Aleman of Kilgore was eighth, in 17:07.

The team points for the boys had Pine Tree in front with 18, Kilgore at 68, Henderson 85, Gilmer 113, Cumberland Academy (in Tyler), 136; Spring Hill, 140; and Carthage, 164.

Henderson’s Giselle Alejandro and Kilgore’s Ruby Almanza, a multiple-time UIL State Cross-Country Meet qualifier, finished 1-2 in the girls’ course. Alejandro ran it in 12:03, the best finish of any competitor, and Almanza was second in 13 minutes, flat.

PT finished on top in the girls team points with 38, followed by Spring Hill, at 74; Kilgore, at 78; Gilmer, with 80; Henderson, at 99; and Carthage at 124.

In the JV boys division, PT had 18; Kilgore, 46; Chapel Hill, 82; Henderson, 100; and Cumberland Academy, 151. In JV girls, PT led with 18; Spring Hill had 53; Carthage had 88; Kilgore, 93; and Chapel Hill, 103.

Individual results for the boys division, for Kilgore: Jorge Aleman, 17:07; Luciano Brizuela, 17:24; Gustavo Trejo, 18:13; Enrique Salazar, 19:34; and Jose Gonzalez, 19:34, as well.

Individual results for Henderson in the boys division: Adrian Saucedo, 16:59; Joseph Morales, 17:44; Angel Torres, 19:06; and Ronaldo Hernandez, 19:33.

In girls individual results, for Kilgore: Ruby Almanza, 13 minutes; Maci McNew, 13:37; Lexi Lara, 14:42; Evelyn Leon, 15:05.

Henderson’s girls individual results: Giselle Alejandro, 12:03; Ruby Almanza, 13:00; Mina Davis, 14:22; Esther Hutchens, 14:37.

Gilmer didn’t qualify as a team in the girls or boys, but has a few individuals going to regionals. Here are Gilmer’s individual results from the girls district meet: Alondra Dominquez, 13:38; Adela Pogue, 13:53; Evelynn Ramirez, 14:32; and Jade Gattis, 14:37.

For Gilmer in boys varsity cross-country results: Tanner Baxter, 16:47; Sypress Edney, 18:26; and Celson James, 18:42.

For Kilgore in the boys JV division, Jacob Herrera finished in 18:40, third overall. Henderson boys JV finishers: Blaine Sipes, 21:37; Javier Salazar, 22:01; Trenton Cagle, 22:19; Alejandro Luna, 22:20; Angel Escot, 22:32; Jonathan Guevara, 22:47; and Cristopher Gonzalez, 22:51.

The only result we have for Gilmer from the JV boys: Josh Hankin, 25:58.

In JV girls results for Kilgore, Sydney Freed finished in 16:15; Aliyah Veloz, 16:57; Kylee Hunter, 17 minutes; Olivia McNew, 17:40; Julieta Gonzalez, 18:17; Natalie Hudman, 18:40; and Angelina Canchola, 19:19.

Henderson’s JV girls results: only one we have is Lexi Ortiz, 20:46.

And Gilmer’s girls JV results: again, just one, Kiylah Gordon, in 21:21.
