For much of the last decade and a half, except for just a handful of seasons, Kilgore High School boys basketball has been under the steady hand of coach Jeff Coleman, a hall-of-famer in the state of Oklahoma who brought titles with him to Texas, and shattered Kilgore's 29-year non-playoff streak back in 2011, 2012. He got Kilgore to the regional tournament, left for then Tyler Lee (now Legacy), landed at Gladewater for a short while and returned to Kilgore to coach the Lady Bulldogs for a season before settling back into his old job.

But Coleman just retired at the end of the school year.
