PRESEASON POLLS | ETBlitz will recognize DCTF polls this season, beginning with preseason; KHS, Gilmer ranked in 4A top 5; WR, Overton both ranked
Here at ETBlitz.com, we don’t have our own rankings.
We don’t believe that we’re in the business of making sports news; we’re in the business of covering those who do.
It’s our place to cover, as best we can, the schools in our coverage area: Kilgore, Henderson, Sabine, Gladewater, White Oak, Gilmer, Tatum, West Rusk, Arp, Troup, Overton, and Leverett’s Chapel, and of course, Kilgore College.
But we do recognize the need for rankings, so ETBlitz.com will officially recognize the DAVE CAMPBELL’S TEXAS FOOTBALL rankings in the 2024 season, beginning with the preseason rankings. When the publication releases its weekly rankings, by classification, we will update them here on the site. So, obviously, new rankings, with credit to DCTF.
In the season, and this is very important, we will have the opponents on the rankings: the opponent the ranked team just played, and that team’s upcoming opponent, so you can tell who plays who, what’s coming on the schedule of those that are ranked.
And in our ENERGY WELDFAB SCOREBOARD that runs twice a week on this site, we’ll have all of our local teams’ upcoming games and scores, as well.
ETBlitz doesn’t have a program that we cover in either the 6A or 5A classifications, but we have, well, a BUNCH in classes 4A and 3A. So we’re well-represented here. And while Henderson isn’t ranked in the preseason poll, we think that might just change along the way.
Among our 3A schools (Sabine, Gladewater, Tatum, White Oak, Arp, Troup and West Rusk), only one of them, West Rusk, is ranked in the preseason poll.
Only one program that ETBlitz.com covers, and that’s Overton, competes in 2A, and the Mustangs are ranked; we’ll let you see where. And the Mustangs deserve to be ranked after winning 10 of 12 games they played last year and bringing back a lot of that talent.
Like in 2A, ETBlitz.com only has one six-man program, and that’s Leverett’s Chapel. The Lions have certainly had their success since re-establishing a football program in 2005, as a six-man program, although they aren’t ranked headed into the 2024 season.
OK, now we’re gonna shut up. Here are Dave Campbell Texas Football preseason rankings, beginning with Class 6A.

Kilgore has a tough pre district sechdule
They sure do, Homer; at Carthage, at Gilmer, home against Pleasant Grove, Whitehouse… dang. Combine that with playing Chapel Hill and Lindale in district, might have the most difficult strength of schedule in the state in 4A.
