BULLDOGS, PANTHERS WILL BE A SERIES | Begins Thursday at Bullard
Kilgore High School’s baseball team will open the University Interscholastic League Class 4A postseason with Bullard, and it’ll be in a best-of-three-game series.
The Bulldogs, coached by Eugene Lafitte, will visit Bullard in game one on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Game two will be Friday at 6 at Kilgore’s Driller Park.
And game three, if needed, will be Friday, 30 minutes after game two, also at Driller.
The Diamond ‘Dogs have had kind of a rough go of it lately, dropping their last four, but have played in a tough district against both Spring Hill and Carthage. Kilgore is a young team, but has a lot of talent, and Lafitte, who coached Kilgore to within a round of the state tournament in 2018, and then to the tournament the following year, is back after a year’s absence.
The Bulldogs are the No. 3 seed in the 4A playoffs and are 16-11-1 as they begin the postseason.
Bullard is 26-4-2 overall and is the second seed from their district.
