BATTLE OF THE BADGES ’24! | Driller Park softball “battle” hosted by KHS STUCO

EDITOR’S NOTE: Scenes in and around the 2024 Battle of The Badges softball game between the Kilgore Police Department and the Kilgore Fire Department, WITH a few Kilgore High School student athletes thrown in for good measure. Students Cade Cox, Emmanuel Young and Josh Parrish were the officials, and the event was presented by the Kilgore High School Student Council, and Mayor Ronnie Spradlin helped to sponsor it. STUCO had booths set up outside at Driller’s entryway, “prisoners” showed up, as did a “judge,” the KHS band was on hand to play the National Anthem and the KHS cheerleaders and the Ragin’ Red Stomp & Shake team came out. There was a little bit of smack talk. In the end, KPD defeated KFD, 7-1, and good sportsmanship prevailed throughout; everyone seemed to have a great time.
