BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS | A schedule of first-round boys games for ETB-area teams

A look at upcoming basketball playoff games involving schools in the ETBlitz.com coverage area. These are all boys basketball games.

Nine of the 15 ETB-area boys programs made the postseason. And here’s where they begin, all of these being first-round games.

Kilgore: The Bulldogs will play a warm-up game today (Friday, Feb. 20) at 3 p.m. in Tenaha against Crockett. Then on Tuesday, Kilgore will open the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 4A playoffs in a bi-district, or first-round, game against Lindale. That game will be played at Tyler High (the former John Tyler) on Tuesday night at 8 p.m.

Tatum: The Tatum Eagles, the defending UIL Class 3A, Division I state champions, will also have a playoff game today: that game will be in Tenaha (following Kilgore-Crockett, around 4:30 p.m.) against Frankston. Then, coach Jayme Bradley’s Eagles will open the 3A playoffs on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Hallsville, and they’ll face Mineola.

Pine Tree: The Pirates will open the 4A playoffs against Mabank on Tuesday night, an 8 p.m. tipoff at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Gilmer: A first-round game against Athens is what’s on tap for the Buckeyes – that’s also Tuesday night, a 6 p.m. start at Tyler High (the game prior to Kilgore-Lindale).

Gladewater: Also in the 3A boys playoffs are the Bears, and they’ll open them with a first-round game against Grand Saline. That game will be Tuesday night at 6 at Brownsboro.

Arp: Arp’s Tigers open the 3A postseason against Edgewood, a 7 p.m. tipoff at Van High School.

Troup: Troup faces Winona in the first round of the 3A playoffs, and that’ll be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at UT-Tyler, the first game of a doubleheader; Pine Tree-Mabank will follow.

Overton: Also on Tuesday, the Mustangs will open the 2A playoffs at Floyd Wagstaff Gymnasium on the Tyler Junior College campus, an 8 p.m. start.

Beckville: The Bearcats’ postseason run begins Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Center High School; Beckville will face West Sabine to open the 2A playoffs.
