ARP WINS BIG! | Turns Buffalo’s Bison into Buffalo wings, 61-8
To say the Arp Tigers bounced back Friday night from last weekend’s loss to Troup would be – well, a gross understatement.
Arp took the show on the road Friday night to Buffalo, to the outer reaches of District 11-3A, Division II, and as the old-timey sportswriters used to say, took Buffalo to the woodshed: a 61-8 woodshed, to be exact.
Zane Borque, playing quarterback against the Bison, went 10-of-16 for 133 yards and a touchdown (to Wyatt Johnson, who had three catches for 38 yards). Borque also had a big night running the ball: 152 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 carries.
Josh Smith, too, was a Bison-hunter: nine carries, 92 yards, three touchdowns.
Hudson Orpineda got in on the act: 92 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Wyatt Calley had 40 yards on five carries, and Demarcus Wade had one carry, but made it count: 17 yards.
Wade also had four catches for 38 yards, and Julian Narocio (3 yards), tight end Jaxon Schminkey (26) and Isaac Poe (29) each had a catch.
Smith had a good night defensively, too: two sacks and a caused fumble to go with six tackles, four tackles for loss. Schminkey also had a sack. Barocio had six tackles as well, and a fumble recovery.
As a defensive unit, Arp had 11 tackles for loss.
The Tigers, now 4-2 overall and 1-1 in district play, is open this coming week, and then will host Elkhart on Oct. 18.
