ARP HONORS OVERSHOWN | Cowboys linebacker celebrated with ‘DeMarvion Overshown Day’

DeMarvion Overshown got his start at Arp High School, graduating from there in 2018, and headed for the big stomping ground of Austin, Texas, as a member of the University of Texas Longhorns.

That’s been a little while: since then, Overshown was selected in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, where he’s arguably their best defensive player.

Overshown was honored on Friday when the city of Arp and Arp ISD celebrated “DeMarvion Overshown Day” on Friday, and No. 13 himself joined the rally with Zoom.

DeMarvion was injured a couple of weeks ago, tearing ligaments in his right knee, and won’t play for the Cowboys again this season.

“We just wanted him to know that Arp and our community is there for him,” said Arp ISD Communications Coordinator Mike Alzamora. “We wanted him to know we love him, and that if he needs us, we’re there.”

Students and faculty packed the cafetorium for a rally Friday morning.
